Why would anyone believe what this fat f*** Garrioch says.

He posted an article 2 week ago saying there was no chance Brady was being moved/asked to be moved.
It's kind of common sense, they aren't going to go into full rebuild now, they'll use some of this assets to get a player for the now.

Lmao the leafs fans laughing at sens for this trade make no sense. We fking lost the princess marner for absolutely nothing. At least sens got 3 first rounders and 2nd for this bum ..... good job on sens to trade off that 🤡

Players with full NMC hold all the cards. Leafs could not do squat with Marner. Leafs were lucky Marner didn't listen to his agent and hit free agency and just signed with Vegas. We were lucky to get Roy.

Brady wanted out and held all the cards. He didn't want to be in ottawa and wanted to be traded to Florida.

Brady is still under contract and let the Sens know he wasn't resigning there. He did same thing his brother did in Calgary.

It would have been nice if Marner helped the Leafs like that if he knew he wasn't going to resign here. But he didn't and that is his right with his full NMC in his contract.

Ottawa made out well here because Brady wanted out and let them know early.

I agree leaf fans shouldn't laugh at the sens . In all honesty Brady was terrible in the playoffs for the sens.
Sens made out well here. IMHO Brady is pretty overrated and doesn't make players around him better.

That being said he will be a great fit in Florida

I'm seeing a lot of Twitter action about Boone Jenner wanting to be a Leaf.

If his AAV ask is reasonable I'd probably be interested.

Often injured, questionable that he can be a center and just turned 33. With that said, he's physical and can chip in. Could be ok, could be needed, but I do worry about his ability.

Nobody knows what a player truly intends. Sometimes it leaks, sometimes it doesn't. This has been ongoing for weeks. It was a real possibility within the Ottawa community (I live here).

If the Leafs get the same feelings about Matthews wanting out in some form or another, he'll be traded. Doesn't seem like it's at that point.
I’ll take your word that it was a possibility in the community.

The only place this conversation existed for people outside of the Ottawa community is on indy podcasts and they are the same people saying the same about Auston.

Not really. Again, as I already explained, whether Brady gave indications or not of wanting to leave means exactly nothing with relation to the fact Matthews hasn’t.

Say Tkachuk didn’t show any, well he then asked out, so we in fact know he wanted out.

Matthews hasn’t shown any, and there’s no evidence he ever will.
The Auston situation today is no different than the Brady situation yesterday.

I was thinking more as a winger and pairing him with Tavares on a third line. Run McKenna/Cowan with them at different times to give them that veteran presence. Pettersson as our 2C making 8.5 mill.

Ba da bup bup bup I'm lovin' it.

This is a Knies-level player who had 100% control over his destination... I think this is an overpayment for Tkachuk.

Regardless of their on ice impact, Brady has the reputation of a star, which is going to inflate his value by quite a bit

It should.

The history of Knies vs Marner throws a pretty big wrench into that idea

Not a single person had anything on the Brady thing via the mainstream other than a few reports. Brady himself months ago said he was committed at his exit press conference. That obviously changed fast. People here said if he wasn't signing long-term when he could, he was a goner... and he's a goner because he wasn't going to.

The same people that said Matthews wanted to leave, or wasn't sure about his role here, are now saying he wants to stay to see it through, which likely means a contract extension assuming the Leafs bounce back. Maybe because that's what the information suggests. Maybe it's all wrong, hard to say, we're not insiders. Not all players are the same and Matthews is certainly not Tkachuk.

Maybe he wants out. And if he does you'll get your wish. Maybe he does want to stay. I don't know.

I would suggest that they are completely different.

That aside, this is a terrible trade for Florida. Blew all their assets and most of their available cap space on a complete non-factor of a player. It's great for the Leafs, as both Florida and Ottawa will be out of the playoff picture next season.

i do not understand why the hell are we looking to trade Knies? for what reason? did he ask for one? or does management think he is not a solid piece?

trading knies is absolute stupidity unless its for a significantly massive overpay
I honestly don't think Chayka is actively shopping him. I just think many teams are calling and he's listening to offers. We have all the leverage in this scenario. Either make a ridiculous overpayment of an offer or get lost.

Acceptable Knies(+) packages? Could probably even attach a cap dump in return as well to maximize value.

Mateychuk + Voronkov/Sillinger + 14th

Harley + Bourque

Clarke + Byfield

Dunn + Wright + 7th

Do we know things changed fast? I’d say there’s a good chance he wanted out after the Olympics and he just didn’t make it public.

I only saw CJ walk back the Matthews comments but I could have swore Spittin Chiclets had him going south this summer (and Brady) and they have yet to walk it back to my knowledge.

Agreed. They should have gone after Larkin and Hellebuyck with those picks.
