GDT: Trade and Free agent Rumours thread | Chayka off-season edition

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
At this rate I'm expecting a Rielly for the 9th pick and 27th pick. Walk out that 1st round with McKenna, Villeneuve/Lawrence and Bleyll/Preston.

I can see Rielly to San Jose working. Not sure if it'll be for that big of a return. But like San Jose has 56M of cap space. They need to add roughly 20M to just reach the cap floor, and that's only really with Graf as a "big" RFA.

to those who don't like the Chicago trade it's seems very obvious to me that Chicago scouts feel the players available @ 4 wont be as good as Byram, obviously Buffalo feels different or this was the best offer they recieved and didnt think they could get more elsewhere. I've said this a few times that I don't believe this group of prospects are particularly strong at top of the draft compared to other years and we've now seen 3 top 10 picks moved 4-5 days prior to the draft don't remember the last time that happened. this might be due to a particular weak UFA crop but this is a clear message top 10 picks are getting moved for guys like Byram, Eklund and Tkachuk. not exactly superstar players.

I can see something around Carlo for Tuch+Krebs. I have an odd feeling that Tuch to Toronto could happen.
Would love that deal but do the Sabres need a Dman?

Dahlin - LHS
Powers - LHS
Samuelsson - LHS
Crevier - RHS
Timmins - RHS
XXX - ?

Carlo could be the 3rd RHS they add but then all three LHS are playing seperate pairings and Im not sure they would want that.

Also they do have Mrtka who is a RHS and a top 10 pick from 2025. If hes good enough he could Crack their team, if Not they could move him + 20th OA for Paryako type move before considering Carlo.

Wheeler heard when SJ traded Eklund, Chicago became convinced they'd pick Stenberg at 2OA, and chose to use their 4OA on Byram instead of any of the defenseman. In theory that makes sense, but very poor execution lmao.

He also heard 4OA is very much in play right now.

Drafting Leshunov over Sennecke and Demidov was certainly a rough one in retrospect.

I think it's a valid point. I don't remember a year where so many high draft picks were traded.

I'd love to package something to them that returns Graf, otherwise, I'd push for Bystedt as the return. Would love the center depth in Toronto's organization and I think Bystedt is close! One of Sundin's Swedes.

Sharks will have Celebrini, Misa, Smith, Chernyshov, Graf, Stenberg, Musty + whoever they draft at #27 overall among their young forwards. Bystedt is probably a realistic pull from them and I woulf feel good that between him and Luc-Koblar Toronto would have a quality 3C in the making.
