GDT: Trade and Free Agency Thread

What do we think players like Domi, Rust and Tierney get in the offseason as UFA's?

I don't really understand this...

Moore is not really an upgrade on Engvall. Bortuzzo and Kukan are worse than Holl. We don't save cap (or possibly even lose cap). So we are getting two worse players and taking on cap?

Only way it works is if LA is willing to give up Kupari, which I doubt. A rebuilding team is not going to sell low on a 21 year old former 1st round pick... Especially when they mostly just need injury filler, not a full time guy like Holl.

Personally, I think the play is to keep Holl until Liljegren and Dermott establish themselves. Sniff around the defense market to see if any good depth guys are available for cheap that we can stash on the Marlies and perhaps become an option for a #7 down the line.
 
I could see Lyubushkin being a target if the Leafs want a bottom pair guy who plays physical. I assume so since that seems like something Dubas wanted in the offseason.

Without cap space, seems unlikely. We can't keep over 21 players on the roster it seems like. Not sure what they'll do when Mikheyev is ready to come back.

I do hope they are very aggressive on the free agent prospect side of it. Or European/KHL free agents.
 
So I heard the Ducks pulled Silfverberg from their roster and he didn't appear to be injured since he played yesterday. Think the Ducks and Sabres have a trade in place or starting to heat up?

Denis Alexeyev is 24 years old and putting up very respectable numbers in the KHL. Currently the top scorer for Yaroslavl at 15 points in 22 games. Pretty sure he's a center.

Konstantin Okulov is someone we've been linked to for what feels like 3 years now. Turns 27 in February, so what you see is what you get. 17 points in 20 games in the KHL so far.

Julius Nattinen is a good one. Pretty sure he's a free agent. He's been doing well in Sweden this season. Turning 25 years old soon.

Eemeli Suomi is a smallish forward at 5'9" but he can fly and has very good production in Finland. Turning 26 in December and feels like he's been linked to a few NHL teams over the past couple years but never makes the jump.

Jakob Stenqvist's draft rights expired I think and he's a free agent. Defenseman that moved to the KHL this season and seems to be doing well.

I forgot about Tolchinsky completely. He doesn't feel like he's been doing as well as he should as a skilled 5'8" player since moving to the KHL. But he's almost a PPG this season... Could be an interesting 1 year try out.

Vegas is such a merc for hire organization. Gotta' figure Tuch would be going the other way since the rest of their big salary players with term have an NTC. That Dadonov trade sure looks stupid right now.

Chicago keeps losing...

The Leafs have zero cap space right now so this might be for nothing but I wonder if there's a way for them to maybe try to get Kubalik at some point closer to the deadline? I feel like he'd be a very very good LW upgrade for good value. He's a RFA at the end of the year so we'd keep his rights as well, but re-signing him would be tricky I assume. He's at the top of my list going into next season if they go into a retool mode.
