I think Subban and Domi would both be players the Leafs would look at if they were willing to take reduced AAV's next offseason.

I agree with both names. They seem like celebrity-ish guys who will join the Leafs for novelty purposes.

PTO, doubtful he makes the team. Ho-Sang while a headcase like Domi doesn't have his intrusive dad in tow.
Tough to see any reason why they would do that.
Valid point.

I'm not saying it's a certainty. I'm just saying at a reduced AAV on a one year deal to build himself back up, it might be interesting.

And agreed, I don't think Ho-Sang makes the team out of camp but if he puts his head on straight and plays hard in the AHL I think we'll see him up at some point a la Galchenyuk last year. Obviously they would need to get him on an NHL deal to have that happen.

On short term deals I could see both Domi and Subban reinvogorated here. They would bring some attitude which the team is currently lacking. This is all next off-season though.

Hopefully Ritchie/Bunting can bring some of that this year.

With Domi and Subban, IMO, their Ego's don't match their skill level which could cause problems.
Ritchie and Bunting know where they slot in.

Ego or not Subban cannot skate or defend anymore and his only asset is his shot which takes half a period to wind up.

I would absolutely love to see Domi on the leafs top 6 on a short term contract. Very skilled and gritty option for the left wing.

I think of him as next year's Galchenyuk. Which seems appropriate since they were traded for one another. One of these days we'll get a guy who can turn into a successful reclamation project like a Joffrey Lupul.

Would imagine he comes in and plays third pairing on less than a million, sort of like a Bogosian but maybe bringing a different skillset. PP shot from the point maybe. Not saying he'll be amazing, but I feel like there's a good chance we could see him on the Leafs.

Kotkaniemi Offer Sheet Reaction, Subban NHL Trade Rumors | Boston Hockey Now

Multiple NHL sources have confirmed to BHN and NHN that the Boston Bruins, on more than one occasion, have explored what it would take to acquire Subban and at the same time convince the New Jersey Devils to eat at least half of the $9 million cap hit he carries in the final season of his current contract. The Toronto Maple Leafs have also expressed ‘more than lukewarm interest’ in the 2013 Norris Trophy Winner.

Interestingly enough, when asked whether they’d be OK with the Bruins acquiring a longtime nemesis like Subban, Bruins fans had a very mixed reaction. The common themes from the nays on a Subban to the Bruins trade was that he’s ‘damaged’ goods and his cap hit is too high but one NHL source countered that very valid assumption with this on New Jersey Devils defenseman:

“Of course no team is doing that trade unless ‘Fitz’ [Devils GM Tom Fitzgerald], eats at last half of that cap hit like you said,” the source told BHN. “With the Bruins, they would obviously need to move more cap space out even to afford that but it really makes a ton of sense for them at the right price. You’re getting a motivated player that want to prove he’s still got game heading into free agency next summer. PK lives for the spotlight and big games as we know and there will be way more of that in Boston than New Jersey. Still can work a powerplay too.”

That last point could be very valuable for a Bruins team that still isn’t sure that defenseman Matt Grzelcyk is the man to do that. With Subban, the Bruins or any team that acquires him will have a proven powerplay anchor. Imagine a Bruins powerplay led by Subban lighting up a Habs penalty kill at the Bell Centre? Knowing what this scribe knows of Subban, he’d be drooling over such an opportunity. The gut here is that any trade with Subban won’t happen until later in the season or at the NHL Trade deadline because teams will want to get a solid pro-rated cap hit on top of the Devils eating some of it, but it’s worth watching now because as we know, injuries happen in training camp and the preseason nd teams change their plans.

Whether it's Bruins, or the Leafs, certainly later in the year, when the pro-rated cap hit is much lower, that it makes any sense. With cap space being tight for everyone, he isn't worth the $9 mil, nor is he worth $4.5 mil. The Devils challenge, is that they are short on RD... so they'd need one back. I think the Leafs actually offer PK more opportunity, plus playing for hometown to stick it to the Habs. He'd have to be willing to sign for around $2 mil, with Holl going the other way.

It seems wrong but Ritchie is only one year younger than Lupul when we got him, 7th ovr vs. 10th ovr

There would need to be double retention on Subban and a third team involved, even if the Leafs accrue more cap space down the stretch.

He's still serviceable but nowhere near a 9m defenseman. He would be valuable in a #5 role.

I'd personally like to see the bottom pair RD spot upgraded at the TDL anyways, after Liljegren has been given half a season (+) of work in that role. Subban would thrive here and there's really no combative personalities in this locker room.

I wouldn’t hate adding subban in a 4-6 role to this team, but given his cap, even at max retention, I just don’t know how you make that work

I want no part of Subban or Domi this coming year. Next year on short prove it deals for sure.

Domi is the perfect winger for Matthews-Marner. Gritty, skilled and quick. He will come to Toronto book it and will never look back.

This is the type of player that was inevitable to be a Leaf. Regardless of all his talk while in Montreal. His dad ultimately will get him to Toronto and he will be a Leaf for life. #28 jersey is waiting for him.

Domi is not the perfect linemate for Marner. They never worked well together in London. He has tunnel vision and isn't a good F1. Floats too much and isn't physical outside of the rare time he loses his mind.

He'd probably fit better with JT/WN, which would still make pursuing him worthwhile as long as he comes here on a Kadri type deal.

Lupul was troublesome though, Gary Roberts was a successful reclamation project

Exact reason why he will never be a Leaf and the team will be better off for it.
