Head and cross checking scouts can’t go to Europe easily. Regional scouts identify guy to later be re scouted by your senior scouts.

Vuori is about as high as it gets besides Lilley, and Vuori is practically his equal. His job is to ensure that Lilley doesn't need to go over there very often, if at all. Europe should not be affected at all.

North America is a bit more iffy but even then, video scouting is becoming a lot more prevalent these days. A lot of cross-checking can be done over video these days.

Why would you laugh at someone like that?
If our GM did something like we'd be completely livid, especially when you know, there's no earthly light at the end of that horrible tunnel.

Schadenfreude is a fun part of being a sports fan, its harmless when its sports related.

Everyone laughed at us when when we were going through rough times.

Laugh may have been the wrong word to use. I meant more "laugh with" or sympathize, or just be entertained. He teed off and rightfully so. No different than Dangle during our worst moments as a fan base.

No it can’t. That’s the last thing life long scouts wanted to be verifying high picks on. Until you get all 22 type camera at junior and international rinks they won’t be close to comfortable with that set up. And we are a long way from that.

Our worst moments were best documented by Bushkorn. He just wasn’t built for national tv.

I still don't think adding a depth D is necessary. It's time we trust our elite prospects in Sandin and Liljegren as depth. Other organizations do. Why are we so hesitant. Thats what Montreal did with Subban and Boston with Charlie

do we insert Sandin Lili into the lineup or both?

teach me your ways :( no seriously lol. I'd actually love not to care and just enjoy it the wins. Tbf now with regular season wins and losses I'm like that but for whatever reason I hate when we overpay or lose a trade (in my mind)

Just kinda happened as I got older. I was on this board quite a bit, every day, for years. Got married, bought a house, and just decided to enjoy hockey, and stop analyzing it to death. I felt like people who didn’t treat it the way I did were getting so much more out of their fandom, with hardly any of the anguish.

I don’t miss games, and I’ll pop by the board to read some opinion when something happens, but it’s an afterthought at this point.

Based on this I'm guessing the Leafs could add at the most:

$2,125,000 (LTIR relief, not pro-rated)

+ $120,658 (projected cap space)

+ $168,750(Hutchinson sent down = 725k * 27/116)

+ $215,302 (Barabanov sent down = 925k *27/116)

= $2,629,710
*This would leave them with only 11F until Willie is back

But:
- Keeping Barabanov in = $2,414,408
- Keeping Hutch in = $2,460,960
- Keeping both Barabanov & Hutch in = $2,245,658

Seems like they'll have no problem adding whoever it is they want.

Edited: accidently used current cap space instead of projected cap space the first time.

Based on this I'm guessing the Leafs could add at the most:

$2,125,000 (LTIR relief)

+ $518,383 (current cap space, not projected cap space)

+ $168,750(Hutchinson sent down = 725k * 27/116)

+ $215,302 (Barabanov sent down = 925k *27/116)

= $3,027,435
*This would leave them with only 11F until Willie is back

But:
- Keeping Barabanov in = $2,812,133
- Keeping Hutch in = $2,858,685
- Keeping both Barabanov & Hutch in = $2,643,383

Seems like they'll have no problem adding whoever it is they want.

Rittich should be available almost immediately so I doubt they keep Hutch in, or at least let it stop them from making a deal.

True, maybe they wanna rest Campbell on some game nights too though, who knows; just a possibility; I made a mistake using the current cap space instead of the projected cap space which is just pro-rated, should be fixed now.

Yea, maybe; those are good points. I guess I just feel little skeptical given neither is a vet or has any great NHL experience, and the fact they've played so few games over the year; but management definitely has a very good idea of what they have so I do trust whatever they decide to do. Both very good young D who could breakout for the Leafs, but still worth questioning.

Personally I see by adding a guy like Oleksiak you kind of get a more of a sure thing (I'd have no question as to whether or not he could handle Top 4 minutes/matchups), and an upgrade to Dermott. He could arguably be the Leafs #4/5 guy from what I've seen of him, and the type that's nice to have in the playoffs.

I feel like the Ducks would make for a decent trading partner. Hutton, Hakanpaa, Curran and Welinski would be decent depth options to look at for a cheap price.

I would love to expand and be able to grab Troy Terry... but probably unlikely of course.

Thats fair. If you can add both a forward and D awesome, but my preference in forward.

Kinda off topic but what happened to Craig Button's right eye? Dude has a big shiner there.

Mirtle with an interesting article on the Rittich deal. He's not sure whats going on here. Says Leafs could put Rittich on taxi when the goalies are healthy, but raises a good point that putting someone you spend a 3rd for on taxi isn't the best idea. This trade raises more questions for the goalies and the cap. He doesn't believe this is the full picture, so he wonders if more moves are coming. Says if say Andersen is out for the season, then using some of that 5 million on just Ritttch isn't the best use of space, so could Rittich just be a piece of other big moves Dubas wants to do?

I dont think Galy will be making more than 1 million. He's looked good, but not enough of a sample for him to get a 3x pay raise
