The (un)Athletic were saying they were budgeting around 7M for goalies so 6M would be pretty positive.

50% retained Murray and 7th for Mrazek and 25th maybe works....

Still grab MAF....that's a tandem that has worked in the past but we're a few years removed.
How about:

Arizona:
Mrazek

Ottawa:
Kallgren

Toronto:
Murray (25% retained)

Nah he’s soft and has consistency issues.. opposite of what the Leafs need.

Kubalik though…

Put him on an offensive 3rd line with a prospect and Kase for reasonable money... I'd absolutely consider that.

He had almost 50 points last year, over 50% on draws.

He has some warts and his inflated RFA deal is likely why he was let go. But for a low risk deal, he was a top 3 pick for a reason.

Some team will likely offer him good money, which could take us out of the market.

Now we have to be the best option?

Colorado out. Pitt out

Us. Washington. Minny. Edmonton. Jersey. Buffalo.

Fleury. Kuemper. Husso. Campbell. Geo going to Colorado helped huge
Thought of this as well, we pretty much are the best team in need of goaltending now and gives us a leg up on other teams of the guys looking to win vs looking for a bag. MAF running out of competitive options

The easy minutes are all spoken for by the Tavares line so he'd have to fit in there

I'd see him as potentially more of an offensive boost to one of the bottom six lines. Kampf's line obviously handles the heavier defensive assignments, but the team needs more productions from there.

Or he could potentially play on the JT/Nylander line and slide Kerfoot down

Easier minutes in the bottom 6, and there is plenty of room for him there.

Not really? Kampfs line is going to get decent minutes as the defensive line. And the 4th line will get scraps as usual.

The Tavares line already gets soft usage and is bad defensively. You can't have the 3rd line function that way as well, thats why Keefe went to a defensive unit this year, often Mik/Kampf/Engvall. I see the team wanting to get better defensively if anything, not worse.

If Strome comes here he'll be on the 2nd line imo.

He's definitely getting signed if he's not asking for a big pay day. He's also a huge Blue Jays fan.

He might have to take way under market.
On a 1 or 2 year deal you never know. You just say look we'll give you more money if you put up points and round out your game and the caps going up by then.

Does Dach actually play center?

Edit: 33% face-off win....would want way better than that for our 3C
We do have some good faceoff guys on the roster as well as faceoff guru Malhotra that he could learn from. Even Spezza will be around

Having a 21 yr old 6'4 C who was a 3rd overall pick and hasn't reached his potential yet could be a huge get.

for god sake, please no to strome. they need to be harder to play against
Yeah, I personally would love to play against a guy who for his career averages 51 points per 82 games while being a strong offensive play driver despite being constantly f***ed around with by coaches and management and given inopportune roles.

No way would I want that guy on my team. Even if he could give us extra cap space I wouldn't want him.
