While I like the idea of trading Nylander as part of a package to get the #2 pick, there's zero chance I'm taking Slavosofsky ahead of Cooley. I think eventually Cooley will become the best player in this draft, even ahead of Wright. Not to mention, he's a center, which we're desperately lacking in the prospect pool.

Here's a bold prediction / crazy idea / Conspiracy...

Kadri was traded when and how he did as a way for good guy dubas to get kadri the cup (and to make it seem like he was being punished) handshake deal to bring him back as he matures and brings the cup to Toronto :-P

Obviously not true at all but would be a crazy fun mind f*** if he came back lol
Except his comment after winning shows he hasn't actually matured at all..

But there some rumor than habs could draft cooley over wright

We aren’t trading for 2nd overall when our window is now whether or not some people like that or not.

He's a bit of a unicorn though, not a lot of guys play like him in the league.

He's not playing over the 4 we have, and even if you trade one of them, he'd be the 4th best LHD we have.

I don't see the fit.

Why is people so hype up about the No.2 overall pick. To me, I would not even trade Willie for the 1st overall straight up bc as of now, I just don't see Wright being a 70pts player in the league.

Production very similar to Sandin except he's significantly meaner.

It's a conversation but would involve a lot of work.

I could see Boston, NYI, Florida and Wings in the East all being more interested.

Really, I take his comments as him proving his doubters wrong. It shows he got fire in him. Much better than him being political and thanks people who treated him like crap

Trading for the 2nd overall pick has zero effect on us competing now, if anything, it allows us to continue having a solid team for years to come. Example,

Trade Nylander for 2nd Overall (Cooley)
Sign one of Forsberg/Burakovsky/Nichuskin to replace Nylander on the 2nd line.
In 3 years when Tavares contract is over, you have Cooley to replace him at a fraction of the cost.

They'd be more interested because they don't have 4 good to great LHD already under contract.

If he was right handed, the fit would make sense.

Teams interested in Hague are reportedly from the East.

Really hoping the Leafs are in. Wanted to trade down for Hague in his draft year. He hasn't scratched the surface of his potential yet.

Checks a lot of boxes for this team, with the right development. He plays a mean game but has untapped goal scoring potential from the blueline, truly an incredible point shot in junior.
They don't need another young D to rot in the stands. I think they will trade Sandin but that still leaves 3 lefties and I don't believe any of those vets have shown the ability to play as well on the right side. Would they try him on the right as a Holl replacement?

That could work but I don't think management is looking that far ahead. Willie needs to return a quality vet who is cheaper than him and can produce from game one. Willie out and Kerf out gives them room for Nichushkin plus a legit #3c.

that's not really political but I think a more appropriate term is diplomatic. I do admit its perhaps not the best look for Kadri to say something like that while likely the very pinnacle of his career - what would be better is to just rise above it - but who cares really. Kadri's always been Kadri. Still very happy for him.

One player I think we should target who I believe would make a great partner for Rielly is Dylan Demelo. He's locked in for another 2 years at 3 million.

To Toronto-
Dylan Demelo

To Winnipeg-
Justin Holl
3rd Round Pick

No.

It's probably fair 1 for 1 but we're adding another 1M for a defenseman that isn't significantly better than Holl.

Likely Sandin is in there if you're including Roy...Sandin figures to come in for 900-1M which helps Vegas kick the can down the road a bit on cap and get a good long term player.

I don't know if Sandin just becomes a really good defenseman that Hague won't be. Hague has a bomb of a shot...likely a 2nd pairing defenseman moving forward and brings ingredients Muzzin does.
I do that swap. Hague long-term beside one of Liljegren/Niemela is veryyy nice.

But he got kicked and severely hurt his teams cup chances 3 times. That happened.

Thars like cheating on your last 3 wives then when you finally stop.

Now that's a good target and someone likely available for the right price. Not sure what you're giving up is what the Jets would want but DeMelo is someone I think the Leafs would have interest in.

Why not? Cheap, effective and probably due for promotions, especially Anderson in a depth role. He won't clear waivers again I don't think. Steeves impressed in his short stint and Robertson has a ton of potential.

Signing veterans is fine but most of them are Clifford and Simmonds quality if you go near league minimum unless you get really lucky.

ZAR, Acciari and Vatrano are good but won't come dirt cheap either. You can't just sign a bunch of bloated bottom players. You need cheap young players as well. Dubas has been good at finding good bottom line players for the money though, so I'm sure there will be some names brought in to compete.

I like said players. Its not a knock on them, I personally don't think they're regulars on Stanley cup winning teams. You certainly need a healthy balance of old and young, which I credit Dubas for attempting, but its not working here because he is left with reclamation projects or washed up vets and he doesn't have that impactful ELC - maybe Robertson. We simply won't win with this formula, especially given our division.

I didn't suggest signing all 3 and used the word or for a reason. Goaltending and to a lesser extent the leafs back-end are priorities this off-season but I think the forward depth is looking very thin. I will reserve judgement until the roster is finalized.

To you or everybody whonstill think gibson sucks...

3 years of andersen in anaheim(2013-2016)

Anaheim was
GAx 15th (640)
SCA 13 th (6334) 25.7/game
SCGA 15th 517 2.1/game
SCGA/SCA 8.2 %
HDCA 17 th (2581) 10.5/game
HDGA 5th 357 1.46/game
HDGA/HDCA 13.8%
Goal for 5th 706 2.87/game

First 3 season of Gibson with at least 40 games (2015-2018)
77 wins
GAx 21 th 679.92
SCA 25th 6818 27.7/game
SCGA 4 th 488 1.98/ game
SCGA/SCA 7.2%
HDCA 25 th 2829 11.5/game
HDGA 19th 332 1.34/game
HDGA/HDCA 11.7%
GF 20th 666 2.7/game

Next 3 2018-2021
(209 game)
55 wins
GAx 29th 637.81
SCA 29th 6238 29.9/game
SCGA 26th 548 2.6/game
SCGA/SCA 8.8%
HDCA30 th 2644 12.7/ game
HDGA 26 th 357 1.7/game
HDGA/HDCA 13.5%
Goal for 30th 502 2.40/ game

HDGA/HDCA and SCGA/SCA

This season
HDGA/HDCA 13.2%
SCGA/SCA 8.4%

A season everyone consider as a disaster

Just to give you a comparaison with toronto last year
HDGA/HDCA 15.6 %
SCGA/SCA 9.5%

Last 3 season of andersen in Toronto
HDGA/HDCA 14.%
SCGA/SCA 8.2 %

So please dont tell me Gibson suck or whatever... in fact the only reason why gibson didnt had better stats than campbell last season by exemple is numbers of scoring and high danger chance allowed by anaheim much higher
