Talbot has three advantages over Murray.

1. Shorter contract
2. Cheaper contract
3. He's been more durable.

As @SprDaVE has suggested, he's regressing, and likely won't look very good this year. I don't think this was ever our answer.
Pretty much. I guess if you look at both trades, than I guess you prefer Talbot but you are getting what a decent back up in Talbot which is fine but not what we need. With Murray you get upside as a good starter. It doesn't excuse the bad trade Dubas made obviously. You can do better than Talbot in say Reimer. Samsanov is good but my concern with him is you're banking on potential and you are already doing that with Murray. I rather target someone who has already a known performer and Reimer is that. If Reimer trade is too pricy, than Samsanov or Comrie makes sense.

Would have to be 6x6 or 7x5.5

No real reason for him to get less than the Hyman contract imo

Tough to swallow, but if they can get him at 5-6 short-medium term, might be something worth exploring. Obviously would have to mean shedding 2 of Kerfoot, Holl and Muzzin.

Also, what does Eric Comrie get?

Are we better off with 1 5M player or 2 players at 2.5M? 2 bottom 6 players who can chip in a goal here and there while being hopefully fast and skilled

Comrie I'd take to be a 25 game guy for us. Give 45 to Murray and then 12 given to Woll/Kallgren as an opportunity to learn to play at the NHL level (make these the easiest games lol and maybe 1 or 2 tough ones)

Hope to get him around 2M on a 2 year deal

Unless the leafs make a trade I don’t see them being too busy. I think they sign one forward that can play on the second or third line that they can move up and down. They’ll see what’s left of the scraps and go from there.

Jesus people are getting way too worked up over this goaltender carousel although so far we have got the biggest gamble every single one has questions. Let’s see where we are after the dust settles a little. It’s cam freaking Talbot for chrissakes lol

I don't think Talbot would have the highs of what a healthy Murray could offer but Murray who's played like 20ish games each of the last 2 seasons doesn't seem like a good bet to stay healthy. Kinda like signing Kase, it's not if, it's when.

hopefully we can move out muzzin and replace him with manson

then im hoping kerfoot and holl are moved out as well. laterally or for futures to spend laterally

the subtractions would equal about another 10 mill minus the 4-4.5 most are saying manson will sign for over 3-4 years
JM is going to sign in Anaheim

And to think that the Cam Talbot Oilers fans couldn't wait to see the back of, and who Minny decided was inferior to MAF was actually considered a Vezina candidate for a few minutes today. Amazing off season comeback for him.

Better opportunity for Talbot in Ottawa to play in tandem with the less proven Forsberg instead of the well established Fleury in Minnesota. Probably not a bad idea for Minnesota to inject some youth into their tandem either.

Potential goalie targets Siegal just listed

8. Jones(no thanks)
7. Comrie(already listed my thoughts)
6. Samsanov(see 7)
5. Allen(decent target)
4. Lankinen(banking on upside like Samsanov, probably want more of a sure thing)
3. Halak(old but had his first struggles in a while. His metrics were okay though. Did age finally catch up or was just a one year struggle?)
2.(like Halak. Age or just a bad year? Blashill's system could make any goalie look bad)
1. Reimer(perfect fit on so many levels)

1. Reimer
2. Greiss
3. Halak
4. Lankinen
5. Allen
6. Samsonov
7. Comrie
8. M. Jones
Wow you are quick.

Wow you are quick.

Greiss would be great I think. He was so good for awhile, just consistently steady and capable of playing 40 games without problems. Detroit was just so freaking awful that I can see him bouncing back. I don't think he wants to go to a shit team again, so the Leafs would be perfect on a cheapish 1 year deal.

I'd MUCH prefer Greiss on a 1 year deal over acquiring someone like Talbot 100%.

I have zero interest in Jones or Allen. I'd be all over Reimer, Samsonov. Halak and Lankinen would be meh. Comrie is fine.

My order of preference:

1. Greiss
2. Reimer
3. Samsonov
4. Halak
5. Comrie
6. Lankinen

I'd be happy at this point with Lybushkin re-signing with a few $1M aav forwards and an experienced backup.
