You go with that then - I'll go with goaltending.
Leafs lost in game 7 against Tampa because of goaltending or because they couldn’t score more than 1 goal ? How many goals did leafs score against Habs last year in game 7 was it 1 again ? How many goals did leafs score in their game 5 against Blue Jackets, let me look oh yea that’s right it was 0.

Seems like their may have been a bit of wishful thinking on the part of the GM
Sounds more like he doesn't care what the player thinks. "This is what we're doing, don't like it and we can move you"

I'm surprised that the Oilers are going to be trying to sign a goalie with any sort of salary, but then again, there's talks that Smith isn't going to come back next season and they're unsure on what Duncan Keith is going to do as well.

Leafs should have the upper hand, but I'd prefer that they go after a Gibson/Helleybuck instead of trying something that didn't really work the last couple years.
Hard to do so when you keep bleeding assets to sell off projects that didn't work and because you needed teams to retain on picks. Dubas keeps paying the price for three 11 million dollar players and we haven't even made it past the 1st round.

Okay, so who is willing to trade a pick to deal for a UFA goaltender?

And do you accept that means the Leafs won't get to make that pick?

Do you want cake or do you want to eat cake?
With this management, I've lost faith that there is actually a long-term, well thought out plan of what they're trying to achieve.

It seems like a constant battle between putting out small fires and what will get us through until the next TDL.

After every move, there's lip service that everything is fully under control.

Agreed... three 11 million dollar forwards. Its not goalies getting paid 11 million.our goalie gave us a chance to win which is more than enough considering how much of the cap % he took up.

Their double digits are the problem.

Everything is about managing around that $33m cap hit.

John Tavares is the only real problem there. The organization is really bending over backwards to accommodate his contract.

Not Dubas' fault a once in a lifetime pandemic hit which caused the cap to go up a total of 3 mil over 5 seasons.

To compare, take any other 5 year span recently, and it's somewhere around a 10 mil increase

No? The leafs jumped out to get someone. Mrazek was first goalie signed

Colorado took too long with gru. Lost out on Freddie who didn’t wait and had to trade for kuemper
Okay thanks for correcting me! Coloarado had their pants down.

I've told people here many times those eggs aren't hatched, but their reply was, those eggs have always hatched.

Our goalie had a sub .900sv%. in the series.

Fix our special teams in the playoffs and upgrade the tending and that series is over.

So what, always spend 15% below the cap just in case a meteor hits and the cap shrinks next year? Meanwhile we have to compete with Tampa icing a roster that's 10 mil over the cap before they even add rentals at double retention.

I'm not saying that the offense didn't underperform in critical games. I'm saying that on average, the goaltending underperformed a metric f***ing ton more than the forwards did the last 2 years playoffs included.
