Not an 80 point winger with two years left under contract for a bust and a borderline bust. What would you propose?
Not that.

A suggestion of Nylander for Kakko and Kravtsov doesn't warrant much of a response but you specifically asked for one.Douchey response.
As expected.
I don't mind it.
Thats the reason im pretty high on Gibson, he is probably the only goalie available who can do it...And it probably won't be the case with whoever Dubas can find. Let's face it SC winning goalies do not grow on trees so you better have the next best thing; a D than can lock it down when it counts. As good as our D is today, we do not have that IMO.
Seattle as well, Drieger is out pretty much this entire upcoming season.Arizona and Chicago are the 2 teams that make too much sense.
Buffalo, Ottawa, Carolina, Nashville, Dallas and Columbus could have a little bit of interest.
2 busts for a ppg/ppg+ playoff winger making sub $7m. I swear this place gets loonier and loonier by the dayLook, I know Nylander is probably staying, and I don't have a huge issue with that (however, I would want to see a few others traded in that scenario), but I'm going to do a Nylander trade for fun.
Nylander (Tor) for Kakko & Kravtsov (NYR)
Why Toronto does it:
-Money wise, both Kakko and Kravtsov are RFA's, but, at this point in time, I imagine both would be bridged. There would be savings. How much? Don't know. Enough though.
-Both Kakko and Kravtsov were drafted too high. That said, Kakko is starting to show glimpses of what he can become. At worst, he's still going to be a decent top-6 winger. He's also 6'3 and has acknolwedged that he will start using his size more. Could be a good skill/size combo type of player.
-Kravtsov had a good year in the KHL. Definitely not the star he was expected to be, but he's turning into a net-crashing, north-south meathead. We need some of those guys! Also, 6'3 and solid.
-Both Kravtsov and Kakko "slow the game down" and Kravtsov goes into traffic. They can be, potentially, good wingers for Tavares.
-You lose Nylander, but you have two cost-controlled guys who are ready to step into the line-up and may have a break out year (Kakko more than Kravtsov)
Why Rangers do it:
-Socko mentioned that the Rangers are missing stick-handling and good pass-receivers. Lots of puck bobbling and poor puck control. I noticed this too. Nylander helps solves the problem right away.
-Salary-wise, I think they can afford it. (with some moves)
-Rangers seem to be entering win-now mode and may be open to this.
-Rangers have some good wingers in the system who can replace the guys they lost (Othmann).
Seattle as well, Drieger is out pretty much this entire upcoming season.
Gibson and mrazek have similar numbers the past three seasons, each of Gibsons net-mates have put up better numbers than him.Thats the reason im pretty high on Gibson, he is probably the only goalie available who can do it...
Maybe his price will be high... exemple 2 1st and a guy like Hirvonen but whos care if he make everyone around him look better?

Imagine being able to trade Frederik Gauthier and Tyler Biggs for Dany Heatley when Ottawa traded him to SJ. I'd love to live in a world absent of reality.Seattle as well, Drieger is out pretty much this entire upcoming season.

Yeah, like how some here want to trade Willy for a couple of bust wingers. I can’t see Francis going into next year with Gru and Daccord considering how awful gru was last year. He and mrazek have history together in Carolina, I can see a fit. Maybe we take back the LTIR drieger deal and get a free year of cap space before kicking the can down the road.Apparently fans want them to use Daccord.
No kidding, giving up premium assets for a guy who’s been booty cheeks for three seasons is a risky proposal. If he’s as bad as he’s been lately you essentially blow any chance of being cup competitive while he’s on the books.Everyone will care if he does no better than he did in Anaheim.
Kinda like how the same posters shitting on dubas for trading Kadri for “spare parts” are usually the same ones wanting to trade Willy for similar pieces.I'm not 100% against Gibson (depends on the cost obviously) but it will be the same posters in here asking for a Gibson trade that will be shitting on management for making the trade if Gibson were to come here and put up the same numbers he's put up over the last three seasons.
He obviously has pedigree and I would hope that if he were to come here, he would re-find his game.
Upset about Kerfoot but wanting to trade Nylander for two players worse than Kerfoot. No kidding, giving up premium assets for a guy who’s been booty cheeks for three seasons is a risky proposal. Mrazek was absolute shit this year but prior to that, a pretty decent goalie. He signed for 3x3.8. I don't see why Campbell's body of work would even get him to what Mrazek signed for.Campbell is loved here, he would be smart to stay at around 4mil per with a few years term (assuming we're even offering that much). But we can't do 5 mil....the track record just isn't there. Last year was his first year ever as a starter, and he only had a 49 game workload. Assuming we do whatever it takes to unload Mrazek and his pricetag... There's enough tandem guys available this UFA. Holtby, Husso, Koskinen, DeSmith, Fleury, Greiss, Wedgewood are all guys who can play in a tandem. Other options may include Georgiev at it seems the Rangers will likely let him walk, and Murray who we've I guess been linked to who is a buyout candidate. You have any two of Fleury, Holtby, Murray, Georgiev, Husso, Koskinen...on a one year prove it deal of 2mil it less...you could have a fairly solid crease through competition. Some have been top tier starters in their careers (Fleury, Holtby..and to a lesser degree Murray due to his back to back cups even though he shared the net much of those seasons with Fleury) or Husoo, Georgiev, Koskinen who are hungry to prove themselves as starters somewhere (I still remember when we had trade proposals like Nylander for Georgiev a couple years back lol...now we can give him a chance for likely nothing more than 1.25 mil)
These guys are busts now? LOLSeattle as well, Drieger is out pretty much this entire upcoming season.

Yikes, no for Leafs lol.

I’m even open to Willy for high end elc talent (anyone in the top 7 wanna trade their pick this draft?) because if you move out his aav which is hard to replace dollar in dollar out, but if you move Mrazek and Willy you can sign a forsberg or Kadri and a back up, and come out cap neutral while adding a top 5-7 pick to the fold, a guy like Cooley Nemec or Slaf would be huge to have in a season or two on an ELC to help offset the Matthews Marner extensions plus whatever else is added to the cap by then.Upset about Kerfoot but wanting to trade Nylander for two players worse than Kerfoot.
I'm not in the 'we can't trade Nylander' camp. I'd definitely look into moving him for a different type of player. Kakko and Kravtsov are laughable suggestions. Pathetic.
They’re definitely heading into bust territory compared to expectationsThese guys are busts now? LOL
Kravtsov was just signed 1 hour ago to an extension after the Rangers praised him for his progress this year. Definitely a bust.
Kravtsov was a TOP 10 pick four drafts ago and has a total of 4 NHL points. Call him whatever you want. These guys are busts now? LOL

Maybe they can send us another Carter Hutton. It's all mute if Zona is on his 10 team no trade list (see Dadorov).
We should have a sticky thread with people's predictions on players and what they will become. So many smug comments in here. So easy to throw scathing one-liners and then disappear into the night when the your predictions is wrong.
That's a bit misleading. 4 point in 20 games. No, not great, but he's still 22. He also had a good year in the KHL and the Rangers just signed him and are "pleased with his progress". You have to make some predictions on players based on how they're progressing, their style of play, etc. I think he bounces back. I could be wrong.Kravtsov was a TOP 10 pick four drafts ago and has a total of 4 NHL points. Call him whatever you want.
LOL sure.I agree. The thread should specifically track the careers of William Nylander, Kaapo Kakko and Vitaly Kravtsov.
