Vancouver wants a first a bluechip/ former first rounder and a player for Miller.

so 2023 First Round draft pick, Filip Johansson and Victor Rask?

lol probably 2022 First Round, Carson Lambos/Marco Rossi and Dumba
I have a hard time thinking of a team that would be in the market for Miller, has a Rossi/Lambos-caliber prospect to spare, and is willing to add a substantial roster player on top of it. I think Miller returns more than Zucker did in terms of asset quality, but I don't know that there's a suitor out there that'd be willing to go that high.

If Fiala paces out for the rest of the year, it'll give him a 25 goal, 65 point season.

His 3 years here per 82 games would be:
29+40=69
33+33=66
25+40=65

Maybe Boldy continues to give him a bit of a bump (been a 1.25 ppg player since Boldy arrived) so let's say he just climbs into the low 70's.

The "big" winger signings over the last year with term were:
B. Tkachuk 7 x $8.2
Kaprizov 5 x $9
Farabee 6 x $5
Svechnikov 8 x $7.75
Hyman 7 x $5.5
Schwartz 5 x $5.5
Ovechkin 5 x $9.5
Landeskog 8 x $7
Hall 4 x $6
Mantha 4 x $5.7

I'd hope that his side would realize that the Ovechkin/Kaprizov level ain't happening. I'm sure he'd like to find his way into the Tkachuk/Svechnikov level, and actually might have a bit of a case to do so, but that's probably a bit too rich for our situation. Landeskog's level sounds pretty right: Landeskog has produced better but he's also the 3rd guy on one of the 3 best lines in the league.

Somewhere in the 6-8 years x $6.5M to $7.5M seems justifiable for both sides.

Maybe I’m silly, but I really think we can make keeping Fiala work. We’d have to move Dumba, and I would consider moving Talbot as well, but it works with the cap

At this point, moving Dumba and Talbot to make Fiala work should be a no brainer

Depends on how high the Rangers are on Laf, but 1st, Laf and Strome for Miller?

Or 1st + Lundkvist/Schneider + Kravtsov?

New York has the pieces, though I'm a little skeptical about their supposed "next level" interest. Drury was an AGM back when they traded him to Tampa and I could've sworn there was some kind of tension between the player and team back then... I might be misremembering, though.

But yeah, I guess a 1st + a prospect + whoever Miller replaces could work for the Rangers if they were really hot to get him back.

Miller is the next best center after Eichel on the market - supposedly. I don't think he'll get back what the Knights got (Krebs, Tuch, a 1st and a 2nd) but something in that vein.

If this tweet below on JT Miller is true: really don't want this guy in Wild's current lockerroom . What is everyone's thought?

Miller was slashed on his hands and he lost the stick, no call. Stick looked intact, but instead of picking it up he skated to the bench. Was nothing he could do anyway about the goal because he was 50 feet behind the play.

This tells me more about Boudreau than Miller, calling him out like that in public. I'm glad Boudreau is no longer here, then we wouldn't have the great locker room we have now.

The narrative has switched in fielding Fiala offers from “let’s get the best young center we can get if it has to happen,” to “let’s get the best young player who can maybe eventually replace Fiala”. Holtz for Fiala makes sense to me if it has to happen. Hope for 20+20 next year

Yeah, that would go a long way towards solving our cap problems. I would then try to get Chychrun...having Holtz would allow us to trade a Beckman, ROR, 1st, etc., and perhaps look at moving Dumba during the summer and recoup some picks/prospects.

Downgrading Fiala to Holtz to add Chycrun would make our cap a lot more manageable.

He was 50 feet behind the play because he didnt skate and was pouting with no penalty called

Bazeek, the doctor, it’s doomsday scenario where we trade Fiala in the off-season. Who are some Holtz-type targets we could try and get who are cheap, but would replace some of him?

Without putting a ton of thought into it, Owen Tippet is a name that pops into my head. Florida has the Fentons still there I think too.

I think LA's going to have some decisions to make with the wad of prospects they have. Kupari, Vilardi and Turcotte all seem to be in various stages of making the jump to the NHL - maybe they opt to convert one into Fiala?

Vancouver would also be interesting if the new management group decides it doesn't want to bite on Boeser's $7.5m QO after watching him deal with injuries. Fiala's matched his production without the minutes or linemates that Boeser gets, and may be cheaper to sign. The Canucks board has some weird (and amusing) rumors that Hoglander might be on the way out over there.

Was thinking that as well, I just wonder if he’ll be moved before the offseason

Lol, why the Hoglander hate?

Probably just the usual "I totally know a guy that cleans toilets at Rogers..." stuff, but it's pretty funny. And it does sound like carving out space is a priority for Rutherford and Allvin, so going from Boeser -> Fiala might save some money without really hurting the roster. So I dunno.

I’ve wondered about Vilardi as well. I think a guy like Holtz probably is the ideal fit because of the timelines. We could have a monster forward trio for the next decade with Boldy, Rossi, Holtz.

Kupari and Vilardi scare me.

Kupari is turning 22, but really haven't done much in the AHL or the NHL to make me think he'll be anything. He's also really injury prone.

Vilardi at least has made some noise in the AHL, but hasn't really done much in the NHL either. Better chance on him than Kupari. Just really risky.
