after 40 games in 77 days what are the odds we are fresh & hungry to make a serious playoff run? im so tired of GO 4 IT at all costs and watching mediocre (mild) hockey for 20 years. let judd work his magic.

He has worked his magic. He's had a couple of great drafts on paper and we have a freshly stacked prospect cupboard that we will likely need to utilize to make a move or two in the near future. With Lambos, Peart, Hunt, O'Rourke, Addison, and Warren on D and Brodin and Spurgeon locking down the left side until 2027, and Merril until 2025, someone's going to have to go in the unlikely event they're all NHL players. My money is on Warren not becoming an NHL regular, but the rest have serious potential. Peart has shown a ton of potential as a freshman in one of the top conferences in the NCAA, O'Rourke has that mean streak we've been looking for in a D-man for ages while also being able to produce, Addison is continuing to grow at the NHL level, and Lambos' numbers speak for themselves. Hunt is who I'm not so sure on. The bad news? Only Addison is right handed. Provided Spurgeon and Brodin don't go anywhere, some of them are going to have to play on their off hand if they aren't already. Also dependent on what happens with Dumba. We're going to be forced to make a move somewhere at some point.

Yeah so make it when you know which of them are good fits or not. You don't want to trade away the one you think is going to be the worst, and watch him become the best.

Typically teams that draft well wait until that drafting shows up on the NHL roster, so frankly, Brackett hasn't done anything for this club yet.

One of the defenseman or a few will just play on their opposite side.

What if wallstedt came over for playoffs? extremely rare possibility and risky, but impossible?

Wouldn't count on it.

Going back to January 19th, Wallstedt has only started 1 game (of 9gp for Lulea) and he was pulled in the 3rd. Not sure if he is dealing with injury of Lassinatti's play has been that good, but Wallstedt isn't playing. That's one start in about a month and a half, insane...

Depends on the context. If we're talking a chip, chair and a chance in the playoffs then sure, why not? Could be fun to watch. But if we're talking, "do we invest assets short term on the chance that Wallstedt could come up and help with a playoff run?", then no.....don't do that!! If there is a TDL deal out there that makes sense and doesn't cost the moon, fine but I am not at all in favor of going for it just to watch Talbot/Kahkonen as a 7th/8th seed.

Leddy is not physical, and more a of a PMD than a defensive type. A better skating Goligoski, at best.

And if he gets shelled, that'd absolutely destroy his confidence. Would be a horrible move from a development standpoint. Not saying all goalies, but so many of them are head cases to begin with. Teams that bring these goalies in way too early, they get their confidence ruined because they're not ready and it generally just seems to devolve from there.

thats why i said its risky, but ya never know, every once in awhile a goalie comes in and lights it up at a young age.

Like who?
Price and Vasi didn't play the NHL till their D +3 years. Fleury played NHL in his D+1, but didn't have a save % over .900, or GAA under 3 till his D+3. All three of those goalies will be HOF'ers.
Wallstedt needs at least another year in either the SHL or AHL. SHL would be the best option, unless his team hampers his development by not playing him.

i was thinking more like players that come directly overseas and play vs. players who come directly from CHL/ncaa. not neccessarily regarding age. such as backstrom. Granted backstrom was older, but he didnt play a single pro game on smaller ice before making the transition.

would you take P.k. subban max retained over benn though?
We have our in house Benn substitute in Addison.
I thought he looked good against the Flyers. Not a stellar defender, but not terrible, and his ability to jump into the play and move the puck in a skilled manner rather than bang it up the boards was welcome. He also is a willing shooter from the point who gets it off quick. Good feet while defending...hopefully he watches Spurgeon and Brodin, and improves. You don't get players like that down in Iowa to learn from, usually.

If Vancouver is seriously willing to trade Bo Horvat we have to get him. He’d be perfect to be 1C with Rossi at 2C next year. And he can win a f***ing face off. Fiala would for sure be gone next season, but we’d be so much better with a real C capable of actually playing 1C. Trade Fiala in the off-season for that OTT 1 and find a way to get Slafkovsky with it.
