Adding a Top 6 forward…. Is that BG’s definition— aka Jost? Or the normal definition. Is Garland on the block(?), for Dumba.

Absolutely you do that. I have no idea why BUF would, though. Johnson and ROR is a wash, at worst, for us. Mittelstadt has been a disappointment, but he's a skilled player who can play C, and might find a spot beside Boldy. I do that all day long for a 2nd. CM is Tyson Jost'ish, but has a higher ceiling.

If i'm BUF I try to do something else. They are sick of losing, and have plenty of cap. Offer Greenway(upstate NY guy) for one of their forward prospects Peterka/Krebs/Quinn.
This is pretty much where I’m at. I don’t think Mittelstadt is Jost-esque. Just been injury prone early in his career. I don’t see why signing Johnson would be a problem either since he plays for the gophers and his partner is a Wild prospect.

I don’t think Buffalo would bite on Greenway for any of those guys.

You might want to re-evaluate your thoughts on Dumba.

Mittelstadt isn't much of anything.
Dumba can get a late 1st from playoff team if Minnesota is out. Boeser isn’t worth much at this point. He's victor rask slow and doesn't play defense. We also have a coach and gm who wants player's with two way game. As long Guerin and Dean Evason aren't fired, we will see the fiala situation repeat itself

Worth more than Dumba and Mittelstadt.

Umn no. If you have paid any attention to boeser dating back to last year, he's not getting a 1st or 2nd on the market . Vancouver fans are using him as cap dump.

Dumba while no longer that good will easily get a 1st from a contender along with fact he's a rhd. Some here are really showing they haven't paid any attention to the regression in boeser's game. He's been benched on multiple occasions by Bruce

12p in 13 games for Boeser so far this year. He has his warts sure, but by no means is he a cap dump. VAN fans are just going crazy over ways to keep Horvat.

I want nothing to do with Boeser. I don't like his contract or the fit for him on the Wild.

Then spend the same assets to fill the hole that was created in the lineup? If they are in/close to the Playoffs then I keep Dumba.
Nope. We have plenty of defensemen that can be given a shot. O’Rourke, Hunt, Faber, Mermis, Johansson, Sustr.

So just play guys who don;t belong near the NHL. Sound plan. :banghead:
You’re blowing it out of proportion. Plenty of those guys would be fine playing on the third pairing.

Hell, you don’t even have to play any of them:

Brodin-Addison
Middleton-Spurgeon
Goligoski-Merrill

Edit: personally, I’d rather run:

Brodin-Faber
Goligoski-Spurgeon
Middleton-Addison
Merrill

If Faber isn’t ready, then you rotate Merrill in and mix and match as needed

I'm still doubtful Faber could step into that role right away, but Sustr/Mermis have played NHL hockey before, and Sustr has the size and strength people love to have for the playoffs.

That's not really any worse than what we ran last year in the playoffs. You don't even need to worry about guys like O'Rourke, Hunt, Johansson, who I think are not ready for NHL hockey, let alone the playoffs (if we even make it). And if Faber can step into an NHL role right away then it's even less of a concern.
