If we come out of the TDL with upgrades and not giving up our 1st or 2nd, I’d call that a win.

Which I think we did. The Johansson move is still puzzling at best, but if Nyquist can get healthy that's a big upgrade in the top six. If this is all he does, maybe it's a weird deadline, but the team is better for it in the short term, without sacrificing much value long term.

With the West as bunched as it is, difference maker is subjective. He can score and win face offs. He plays C, our weakest position.

He apparently isn't costing more than a 2nd. Comes with no term.

Pretty much exactly what we would be looking for in a rental.

He would make the team better I'm a western conference with no great teams. Instead were going to let him go to a division rival to make them better.

I think the winning FOs would stop as soon as he joins the Wild. I think it's partly a structural/system thing at this point with the team.

I think it’s more to do with having one center and three players who should be wings in the NHL all playing center.

But, I can’t get myself worked up about Domi being on Dallas and not MN. Granted, I’ve never been a fan.

Guerin did say a while ago he wasn't going to move 1sts and 2nds for rentals so it shouldn't be a surprise.

I don't think I've ever see him say 2nds. He has specifically said 1sts and mentioned top prospects. Regardless a future 2nd shouldn't be a deal breaker

There are at least a couple FOs each game that are clean wins by the Wild, yet the team ends up getting the puck. The d-men retreat instead of try to get into the play. It's not getting caught standing flat footed, their first steps are back and away. The Wild wingers don't collapse very well to win contested 50/50 pucks either.

While I dislike half-measures, I try to temper my reactions by remembering that the more of the roster you turn over, the more growing pains there will be before cohesion. Make too many changes and your team won't be cohesive by playoff time.
as opposed to the cohesive losing that we do?

I will say I’m really looking forward to Nyquist bumping some plug further down the lineup. That’s a good thing
we are hoping to plug him into the playoff roster and expecting this 33yo to be effective with a brand new team and 3-4 months of rust?

Really easy to put into perspective what sort of place “thoughts” are coming from when people talk about certain players on this team though.

I just talk about not wanting more players with a PO Box Munchkinland, Oz mailing address...

Idk , he’s not going to be any less “effective” than the greenways and duhaimes and Folignos etc who have no business even being discussed as top 6 options.

So, if the flames decide to sell, there’s this Elias Lindholm guy I would love to have.

CGY is in a tough spot. 5p back from WC2, and 7p back of 3rd in the the Pacific. They lose the tiebreakers to everyone, so add another point that's needed. No games in hand and they lost 4 in a row now. Their longest winning streak this year is 3 games (twice).

Lindholm would be great, but that is going to be a high price to acquire. Not saying I'm against paying a premium.
