He would have to disclose his identity, which might impact his job/ability to disclose rumours. Where as Murphy and Eklund vapid rumour mongerers with no shame.

I wonder whether we're in on Roslovic. He's represented by Lemieux, who also represents Andersen and Engvall. Roslovic previously played on Matthews wing at the USDP. We also have a jumble of #5-7 D and could afford to lose one.

Disclosing himself as 'Chuck Woods' would be disclosing himself as much as Eklund has.

I'm not sure where Roslovic would slide into our roster.

Eklund and Murphy have the equivalent of a blue checkmark beside their name because they're public figures outside of this board, even if Eklund is a pseudonym. That's the level of verification required.

I don't either, just musing.

Is Vatanen bad?

Is he better or worse than last years version of Barrie?
He is worse than Barrie offensively when both are playing good but we dont need an offensive rushing defender as our fourth or fifth guy on the backend

Rielly
Sandin
Lethenon all have the offensive chops we will need to effectively transition the puck and provide offensive zone pressure

Vatanen was injured last year last year(sadly last 3 years really).

He is a bit undersized but has good puck moving abilities and was a good skater in his ducks days. Defensively I doubt hes worse than Barrie and I could see him being a great fit either with Muzzin or Lethenon/Sandin if we deal holl and give him the 3RHD with Bogo 7th d-men

I'd gladly take him for 1,000,000 if we.could find a deal for either Holl or Engvall. Our defense would be insanely deep

Rielly-Brodie
Muzzin-Vatanen/Holl
Demrott-Holl/Vataenen

Lethenon
Bogo
Sandin
Lilijgren
Rosen
Marincin

As the 7-12 guys, though I think vatanen will try for 2-3 million on a 1 year deal

Played around on capfriendly

Got roslovic to play 3C dealing kerfoot+holl and then signed Vatanen for 2.5M. It worked capwise and our team looked sick but I doubt dubas wants to move Holl right now and wants to see how good he is over a large sample size and the jets probably would want dermott for roslovic instead of 2 pieces

I know people love Holl but that was my thought exactly.

I'd rather Vatanen for 2 years at 2 mill over Holl for 2 mill at 3 years. I know Holl is 'big' but he's not exactly tough.

Wow Chara to Washington, wasn't expecting that. That it was Boston or retired

Maybe there was some truth to that Leafs/Chara talk a couple weeks ago. I figured it was nothing because I figured he'd sign back with Boston if he was to play this year.

I wanted Chara on the Leafs.

Having him and Bogo at 3rd pairing would wreak havoc to anyone who try to stay in front of Andersen.

Surprised Chara wanted to sign elsewhere for such a small amount... was Boston just ready to move on?

Their leadership and blue line without him and Krug takes a big hit

Boston doesn't really have anything anymore. McAvoy is going to have to carry it. Grzelcyk and Carlo are fine, but they are going from 4/5 guys to top 3 guys on that defense now, and their 4/5/6 guys (Moore, Lauzon, Clifton) are depth guys at best.

Luckily they should be able to sign guys like Hutton and Vatanen for cheap to fill the gap, but if they don't, then they could be fighting to even make the playoffs next year.

Still stacked on forward. Insane though that their defensive identity has switched to offensive though. And strange they didn't replace Krug and now Chara.
Weren't they also still going to be missing Marchand and Pasta to start the year?

It will get harder for Bergeron and Krejci to carry the team as they get older too.

Arizona signed Derick Brassard. No surprise now that Stepan is gone.

I would not be surprised if they still sign Gauthier after training camp.

Full on meltdown going on over at the Bruins board.

As they should. Really no reason for Boston to not have brought back Chara at that price, especially given their LHD depth, or lack thereof.

Weird decision.

Would love to see the Toronto Maple Leafs go up against the depleted Boston Bruins in the playoffs and just lay waste to remaining players who happen to wear that sweater.

Will also love seeing Atlantic Division rivals take their revenge on the Marchand's and DeBrusk's and McAvoy's of the world now that their big protector is gone. Not to mention Chara coming in and kicking their ass for good measure.

Let's say that happened and Toronto defeated them, chances are there will always be someone to put an asterisk on a Leafs series victory because the Bruins no longer had Chara or Krug.

Personally that wouldn't bother me, however whenever the Leafs have success anyone who hates them always comes up with an excuse for why it happened. For example when they made the playoffs in 2017 that only happened because there were very few injuries they had, so they were lucky.

Depending on the playoff format, we likely wouldn't be meeting Boston until later in the playoffs, so if we did get by them with their modified roster they could put whatever asterisk them want on it won't change the fact that we'll be in the finals or conference finals.
