I wonder the likelihood of Owen Tippett being moved this summer, and whether or not the Wild will be in on him.

Seems to check a lot of boxes, would be a solid fit on either of the top two lines imo.
Agreed. Last I heard was they (management?) told him he wouldn’t be moved, but I believe that was last summer. Philly has a lot of good right wingers and only so many spots.

Tippett is the perfect example of a young fwd that needed a change and blossomed on his second team. We should be looking for the next version of him.

“The New York Islanders could be in for some major roster changes this summer. Reports indicate that Isles general manager Mathieu Darche has been in contact with several teams regarding forward Mat Barzal.

Bruce Garrioch: A league executive told The Citizen that the Islanders are exploring the market for forward Mathew Barzal - Ottawa Citizen (6/1)”

A similar change of scenery forward in the 2022/2023 draft would be? (Tippett trade 4 years after his draft year.

Rutger McGroarty
Conor Geekie
Matthew Poitras?
Ryan Greene

Matthew Wood
Nate Danielson
Daniil But

Wood is definitely too good for the list? Others are at a low point, similar to Tippett.

A little older but Connor McMichael?

Why pigeon hole ourselves into one draft year?

Mctavish, Wright, Perfetti, McMichael, Hayton, K Johnson, Voronkov… I’m sure there’s more out there…

The more I read about him and where his game has developed since his early career, the more interested I am in him. Skating, possession and zone entries have all gone from a concern to above average, he’s smart too. If I remember, he’s a player that wants to be a center but hasn’t stuck there for the Caps.

I like him and think he'd do well here. He's put up some nice seasons while never having a Hughes/Boldy/Kaprizov level talent to feed off of. I like that he can shift between center and right wing too. I read a rumor earlier last season that Guerin had inquired about Barzal and Horvat. But, then the Islanders thought they were going to be playoff team, so they called off trade talks at the time. He's definitely on the Wild's radar if that was true. Wonder what'd he cost to acquire? He's also got a 22 team NTC, which might bring his cost down.

Adding Barzal would make a big impact. I suppose some roster gymnastics and some valuable pieces going to Long Island would be required but man that would be exciting. Can’t win a faceoff but he’s a legit 1C.

The biggest issue with Pinto is his injury history
Really? I think his biggest issue is his offensive ceiling. With JEE, and hopefully, Yurov and Stramel in coming years at C, we should have plenty of responsible two way C's with limited offense. Pinto is more of the same, will cost a fair amount to acquire, and his new contract will be 7.5M AAV. That's a lot for a guy with anemic offensive totals.

What we need is a C with excellent offensive instincts and production, not another worker bee - at least at the price he will command.

I dont dislike McCarron and would welcome him back... at 2-3m with no trade protection. If 5m is what hes set on, see ya Carrot!
Why? It's not your money. 2 million a year is a pylon on an NBA team or 5th round pick in the NFL. McCarron is worth $5 million a year. Salaray cap is rising rather be ahead then behind

One fan, me. And if I could take a shot on him by only giving up an expendable 1B goalie (which was the only scenario in which he was brought up), then yeah, I'd roll that dice.

I’d definitely roll the dice on Norris if all we had to give up was Gus and maybe a sweetener.

Because the "salary cap" that you referenced limits the amount of money teams can spend on players. Paying a 4th line plug $5M takes away from the amount you can spend on other players that aren't playing the least amount of time. Hope this helps
