Honestly, I don't understand Guerin's plan anymore. His trade for Jiricek in hindsight was absolutely terrible. And then he decided to go all in on Hughes. And somehow he is to get another top 6 center with what prospects? Minnesota has a bottom 5 pool and depth as shallow as a kiddie pool.

I'm glad that Brackett is gone. Hate them as much as you want but Dallas ended up grabbing Rantanen and gave up Stankoven. And if rumors are true moving Robertson for Larkin without losing Johnston or Hintz would be outstanding for Dallas. Two second round picks turned into top 6 players.

I’m also glad Brackett is gone. I think we can do better. We could also do worse for sure, but I’m hoping we improve here.

Yeah, the Jiricek trade is haunting us big time. To get Larkin the Wild might have to get a third team involved that needs a goalie, who has a forward asset Detroit would want. The Red Wings don’t need Wally. Trade Wally to team X for that forward to go to Detroit along with Yurov and the 2027 1st plus.

Guerin went all in for Hughes. In principle, I don’t mind going all in, but I would have done so for a center, not a defenseman. I love Hughes, but even with him we are not winning a cup without the center. Most important position in the game. My hot take??? See if Hischer will max extend and come here, and trade Hughes to NJ for him. You get to keep your goalies along Yurov and Stramel. A center lineup of Hischer, JEE, Yurov and perhaps McCarron or Stramel is definitely something to work with. Yes, we will have a pretty good hole a D if we move Hughes for Hischer, but competent D are much easier to find than a number 1 center. Hunt has earned his spot. Let’s see what we have in Lambos, Spacek, Dex and Viking. Resign Bogo for the league minimum and he’s plays only if injuries require. We can trade for a D later if necessary.

I feel like we’re awkward trading partners with Detroit no matter what. If they were rebuilding then, sure, I’d feel better with the futures-heavy proposals I’m seeing thrown around.
The hardest part for Guerin will be convincing Yzerman that we can still help his team win now, even though we’re in our own win-now window.
I don’t get how they’re in anything other than a rebuild, their roster is brutal.
