Speculation: Trade and Free Agency - 2024-25

The issue is that the Wild view Kaprizov, Boldy, Faber, and Wallstedt as top line/pair/starter quality for Cup runs. Not so sure they view Rossi as that (or any small player for that matter).Part of me wonders if they are pumping up his value by attaching him to Kaprizov so they can get a better return. Classic market manipulation.

Ideally he is signed. But if they do trade him, what would you want from another team?
At this point, I don't think I'd really be satisfied with much of anything unless he was a piece in an Eichel-like trade. A distinct upgrade.

I'd do Larkin for Rossi, Trenin, Ohgren and a first Round pick. But I doubt Wings would consider this. But their GM is Yzerman, you gotta try.

Hearing that Kakko might be a target. Seems like a good fit. Do we have the cap to make it work right now?

I imagine it would take a couple picks or maybe Heidt.

I mean, I kind of get it .... he's been an NHL regular and played full seasons for the last 6 years, averaging around 20pts a season so you question if there is anymore upside. But...

That's a huge kick in the nuts for a #2nd overall pick. And we got Boldy that year.

Nyquist or Novak for 2nd or 3rd+meh prospect
Novak is having a Hartmanesque year, after two very nice ones. This, after he was awarded a new contract. Preds can't be happy...would we?

Nyquist not exactly lighting it up, either. The much maligned Mojo is outscoring him.

If they were lighting it up, Nashville wouldn’t be willing to trade them for pennies.

The hope is a trade away from Nashville would spark the player.

I would take Nyquist back in a heartbeat, he was excellent with us, creating offense from the 3rd line very consistently just through clever vet plays. It was not surprising at all to me that he had a career year last season seeing the player he was with us. If he is a cheap acquisition, I would be all over him to add some scoring punch down the lineup that has been lacking.

Totally agreed with this. Nyquist was one of the best players we have ever acquired. Extremely smart player who makes a ton of positive plays and can produce offense even when not surrounded by stars. This would be a Grade A addition.

Assuming he hasn't lost another step (he is 35 now instead of 33), I would be for it as well. He was great.

Isn't that what we're paying Hartman and Foligno to do?
No we're paying them for grit and leadership or something

I mean it'd be nice if they picked it up too but they're both third liners... Johansson needs to be replaced, Boldy needs to figure out how to score again, though in his defense it's probably hard when your linemates are Johansson, Gaudreau, Hartman and Foligno.

We need Ek back, and I mean back like last year, not like earlier this year. We need to replace Johansson.

When healthy, Foligno-Gaudreau-Hartman is an acceptable third line. We haven't had an acceptable second line since Fiala was here. (This is not a Fiala trade complaint post, just an observation)

This team needs help on the PK & PP immediately.

We can fix the PP when Ek's healthy again: Ek's gonna help on PP1 in front of the net. Rossi should get Zuccs spot on the 2nd PP. Faber should be on PP1.

The PK on the other hand has been awful all year. I don't know why they're paying Hartman or Trenin.

The pk is a system issue , the need is any semblance of top 6th scoring depth.

Anyone but Spurgeon please. He sucks on the power play
