Speculation: Trade and Free Agency - 2024-25

There's no way we get him for that. More like Rossi, Ohgren, 1st and Trenin.
So is it Brodin or JEE that is playing on one leg, or both?
My understanding is Brodin is playing on a messed up back, Ek on one leg, and Zuccy on one ball

If Ek is playing on one leg, then what shape will he be in when spring comes around? Shouldn't we be letting him heal a bit? And I say that knowing that him out of the lineup would hurt. But we need a healthy Ek for that time of year when the games matter the most.

I don't think that it matters. While sitting on top of the league, i still think the wild are at least one step away being a legit contender.

I'm really looking forward when the buy-out cap limitations expire. Whit the talent (Yurov, Ohgren/Heidt, Buium) the wild are going to add to this current core (Kap, Boldy, Rossi, Faber, Brodin, ... ) future is looking bright. But Guerin has to stop giving expensive multi-year contracts with no move clauses to bottom 6 players with the youth knocking on the door.

Much of the wild future depends on the goaltending. If Gus continues to play out of his mind we they need to resign him and that's gonna be expensive. Not sure if the cap space will be there for Kap, Rossi & Gus.

I think we're more than just one step away from being legit contenders. We have a ways to go yet before reaching that level. We're still a bubble team right now, and probably will be for the next couple of years.

Couple like somewhere between 3 and 76?

I think the door for the wild becoming a legit contender is opening soon, especially when buy-out cap limitations expire. They need to resign Kap, Rossi & Gus. Young talent is knocking on the door (Yurov, Ohgren/Heidt, Buium, probably Jiricek & Wallstedt) and should become serviceable NHL-players at least.

If they can keep the current team together and add another top6 talent at free agency or via trade (brady Tkachuk would be a dream) this could be a well balanced team. I think 2026/2027 could be the season where all the pieces are together to be a legit contender. 2025/2026 could be a pretty interesting season too.

This season will be great to gain some playoff experience which will be important for our younger players.

I could see Guerin Trading Rossi for Larkin, Probably need other pieces to make money work, Id Love Larkin but I dont think Id want to Part with Rossi at this point the way he is progressing. Plus Larkin is 5 years older. But I could see Billy Doing something like that

What do u have in mind?

Larkin for Rossi, 2026 first, Ohgren & Trenin?

Call me crazy but given age and cost I'm not even sure I'd trade Rossi for Larkin as a base. Larkin is the better player, but I'm not convinced the difference is huge, especially moving forward.

Bonkers, I wouldn't even consider this. Not a fan of this value.

id pass. His game is speed oriented and he’s what, like 27? He won’t be as explosive in his 30s. Great player though but that’s a huge package heading back to Detroit

Also worth noting that Rossi is currently outscoring Larkin this year.

To be fair to Larkin, he’s not playing next to a Hart contender.

Obviously I'm not saying Rossi is better than Larkin, but the gap probably isn't equal to Ohgren + 1st.

Or I don't know how much negative value Trenin has, but I'm not that interested in dumping him yet.

why is our 26 -1st conditional? is 25 to cbj top 10 protected?
It's conditional, because the '25 is conditional. Technically, there's still a chance that we could be a top 5 pick in 2025, thus we can't trade the '26 because we might not have it.

Weird speculation but could MacTavish for Rossi be something Minnesota could look at? MscTavish isnt physical but has size.

McTavish is bigger, but not "big". 6'. Don't see a potentially upsetting trade like this happening, while Rossi is showing signs of meshing with our top players, and JEE is out. That's something you do in the off season, if at all.

Russo’s worse seats podcast post Utah game said that Guerin has not reached out to Rossi’s agent at all to discuss a contract extension.
