Reason? I see he's not on the roster. I guess the kids to watch for Finland will be Kotkaneimi and Kakko.

Jesse Koskenkorva is with the U20 national team, Kärpät doesn't have any centers on the roster to replace him.

Curious to see what Nils Lundkvist can do in this tournament. Think he should be ranked ahead of all Swedish players except Dahlin and Boqvist if he plays like he's done in the SHL lately. No Simon Holmström is a bit disappointing, he's IMO a much better prospect than Albin Grewe who made it as the only underager.

Wow Sweden looked really terrible in that game. Zero jump in their skating and no sync. Believe they had only one full practice after a long flight so that hopefully explains some of it.

Lukas Wernblom might have been a good player a couple of years ago but no way he gets drafted. Small and slow, takes at least one really stupid penalty every game.

What happened to the US vs. the Czechs? Are the Czechs just that good?
I only saw the second period, USA was the better team for most of the period and spent a lot of time in the Czech zone. While Americans had the shot advantage, Czechs defended well and didn't let them have that many prime scoring oppurtunities. And when they did manage to get some, Dvorak was there to keep the Czechs in it. Czechs read American plays quite well which resulted in dangerous breakaways. To be honest the result 6-2 is quite hilarious given what the game actually looked like. That being said, I am confident that if these two teams played tommorrow again it would a whole different story, you could see the the US players are very skilled even if things didn't go well for them. Also, have to give a shoutout to Hughes, at the end of the period he deked around three Czech players like they weren't even there and took a shoot that just missed the net.

Why hasn't Dostal played yet?

I was at the game, and agree with this assessment. Just to add, though, the USA defense made some bad defensive plays which resulted in two shorthanded goals that really put them behind the 8-ball. We've been seeing bad defensive plays like this from the U18 team all season, so it was not out of character.

Overall, it was a much more entertaining game than the afternoon match between Russia and Finland.

Absolut, it is. :naughty: Not an uncommon name in Finland.
Dunno why I'm surprised ;)

I didn't see the game, but combination of USA and Russia in less than 24 hours probably played a big role, especially in the third period.

The Czechs played their other goalie, too, and he was awful against the Russians. He would have struggled stopping a beach ball.
Only seen the first two periods where the result was still ok, but Dostal let in some weak ones for sure.

Not only that, but his positioning was off many times, playing his angles improperly and giving the Russians way too much open net. You can really see this on the penalty shot goal, but it was happening a lot.

This is U18 hockey, I won't be surprised at all, if we lose to USA like 6-2. Of course, we can beat them with the same score as well.

I'm going to head down there tonight for the USA/Russia game. Hope I get to see some exciting stuff from Svechnikov and Hughes

Anyone else on Russia's roster worth looking at?
