Some team will overpay hard for a guy like Frederic coming off a 17 goal season.
yup, their tenacity and work ethic might be catching..........
Dubas defenders are those that complained about those calling the team soft and wanting to trade for bigger and heavier players. They laughed when we bitched as Dubas picked smurf after smurf.Been saying this for years this team needs toughness, The amount of pushback from this community is shocking. Too many guys follow numbers. All one has to do is look at the finals and see two teams that "WANT IT!!!" Wake up people, time to trade some of these prima donnas,
In the bolded scenario do you see Matthews and Nylander as "own rentals"?Da rule/code used to be you could have 1 p*ssy in ur lineup assumed he was a goal scorer on demand .. but we had FAR FAR TOO many with Dubie
exit Mitch .. likely exit Willy if you keep Matty .. JT issue is he needs to play LW and he needs to be at 4-5M AAV for it to work for team .. right now it is a freakin mess of an AAV between da 4 forwards
2023/24 we are gonna spend AAV on D and load up .. Tree/Shanny think old core 4 can do all da offence .. in regular season it will work again .. come playoffs we gotta win 1-0 games

It won't matter one bit if Geppetto is still pulling the strings.I think Dubas leaving for Treliving is a blessing in disguise.
Dubas has assembled a team with top-end elite talent and skill (which every team/GM in the league covets). But what Dubas lacked was finding those support pieces you need that can give this team some serious swagger and balls
Thats where Treliving comes in.
The Sam Bennetts will take A shot...and probably leave it at that if he gets pounded for doing so compared to now where it's a group of gentlemanly players trying to win the game with just skill. How many times does it need explaining? Most of us who want to see the team be more robust, aren't talking about having 5 face punches in the lineup, he'll not even one really.
We're talking about a team who won't just turn the other cheek, who'll initiate and not solely respond, but will respond when required, who'll come to the aid of a teammate when needed and not just stand there when a teammate is getting double teamed
A team with players who'll choose to make plays when they're tough plays to make, not just duck/cover, bail and give up possession.
A team that will make it their business when a young rookie gets bulldogged and slammed into the ice, and send a very clear message as many times as it takes.
When a team is willing to respond, the Sam Bennetts will still take their shot because that's who they are. You just can't let them walk away scott free, someone on the opposition has to pay double and possibly more.

That sentence does not compute...he inherited the top end talent and skill. Who else on this team right now is top end talent with skill that Dubas brought in?I think Dubas leaving for Treliving is a blessing in disguise.

It worked did it not. Talk all you want but it worked.Florida has less pushback than we had... unless you think being dirty is pushback.
Good thing we have Treliving and all the winning he brings now. He has assembled some big teams.
What is the community doing to pushback?Been saying this for years this team needs toughness, The amount of pushback from this community is shocking. Too many guys follow numbers. Seems like a large portion on here has been trumpeting analytics, skill players, regardless of size. Anyone mention adding toughness has been met with ridicule. The way I look at it this franchise has wasted two seasons. Changes should have been made after the loss to Montreal. Took a long time for changes to be made in Detroit and Toronto seems to be taking even longer. What is the community doing to pushback?
Kadri getting dumped was a symptom of Toronto Corporate PC Hockey run amuck. The last guy we had who played with any sort of heart, truculence, pugnacity or any of those other stupid buzzwords was homegrown, wore the #43, was unceremoniously shipped out of town for actually trying to stand up for his teammates, then went on to win a cup as a 30/30 core 2nd line centre and got a big ass retirement deal out of it. Why wasn't anyone thinking of the consequences of dumping that said guy? Majority of you thought he was the problem. Turns out, he wasn't. Now you want guys like him again? The fans of this team are a joke.
Gavrikov extended in LA.I expect Tree to
- bring back Schenn
- Pickup a big top 4 d-man either through free agency (Gavrikov) or trade (someone even more skilled/tougher)
- add a very gritty, big D-man in the bottom pairing who has upside
Also expect that his winger replacements for both Bunts and whatshisname will be bigger bodies with some amount of physicality.
That right THERE already changes the team DRAMATICALLY in terms of physicality . . . while also hoping to bring back O'Reilly.
Hopes and dreams man!

No i think they are gonna sign Matty and pay him too much .. I hope i am wrong but everything shanny has done up to now points to an overpayment again .. and when i say overpayment for da Leafs it is pimple on ur *ss $$$ .. but relative to CAP his AAV will be ridiculous to build a winning team around here .. da richest team always has troubles in socialist middling schemes like da CBA .. that said i think it would be very difficult for anyone to negotiate given our wealth of richesIn the bolded scenario do you see Matthews and Nylander as "own rentals"?

It's a two-way street. Kadri got himself suspended twice in TOR and once in COL before he grew up. I didn't like what TOR ended up getting for him in a trade, but there was a good reason to trade him. It has nothing to do with PC.Kadri getting dumped was a symptom of Toronto Corporate PC Hockey run amuck.
Why would MLSE change anything when it appears the majority of the fan base is more than happy with mediocrity…………..Seems like a large portion on here has been trumpeting analytics, skill players, regardless of size. Yup, but Kadri being traded wasn’t the problem, the problem was the Pejorative Slured return Dubas settled for……..Kadri getting dumped was a symptom of Toronto Corporate PC Hockey run amuck.
