Once again, we have overrated our homegrown players into thinking that this team is good enough to compete for a cup.

We simply aren't even close.

Scotty Bowman couldn't win a cup with our group of forwards. We aren't good enough. We won't win until Sather is gone, and by then Henke will be retired.

What do you suggest? BLOW THE WHOLE THING UP?

BOS
Peverley 11-1-0-1
Kelly 12-0-0-0
Seguin 12-1-3-4

PIT
Morrow 10-2-2-4
Sutter 11-1-1-2
Cooke 11-0-3-3

CHI
Stalberg 9-0-2-2
Shaw 11-3-3-6
Saad 11-0-2-2

NYR
Boyle 11-3-2-5
Pyatt 12-2-2-4
Dorsett 11-0-1-1

Rangers 3rd line had more goals than any of those 3rd lines mentioned and put up more points than any of those lines except Chicago's (They were tied).

Nice #s, thanks for the info.

of course you could compare 4th liners too, where the rangers got 2 points I believe, and the bruins beat the snot out of them

But ~12 games is a tiny sample size, and mostly meaningless.

Are you a 6-time Cup winning Hall of Famer?

No, but I played a lot of east coast hockey manger so I figure I can't be worse than Trottier.

Maybe this team should just stop hiring coaches whos last name starts with T. Damn, no Tippet

It was fun while it lasted. Time for a new avatar.

I really hope we get a coach that has an aggressive game overall and will handle Kreider and Miller extremely well. They're the most important pieces next to Lundqvist, McDonagh, Nash and Stepan right now. These guys start panning out, we'll be in a good spot with contending with a Cup, in my opinion. If they don't, we have major spots to fill again.

That's not fair, because Boyle is a stud.

Which pretty much sounds like a retread with Torts. Pass....
AV employs a much more puck possession game. It's far more offensive and no where near the collapsing we've seen.

What AV needs is good faceoff man. That's his bread and butter and thats his key to zone possession and time. Thats why this guy rode Malohotra like that.

Brassard fits nicely.

Yeah, and then bobbop comes in and says it's legit (and I'm not going to doubt him). I think he did, if my memory is correct.

Crazy situation, for sure.

The true Bob said this? Now I don't know what to believe.

Who can forget (career defenseman) Dallas Eakins unforgettable spin on left wing in the 1997 Conference Finals when the Rangers were down to 8 healthy forwards. Team guy. would do anything to win. Protege of Roger Nielsen. Pleasantly surprised how many sharp hockey minds here recognize his value and abilities. With Tippett not available, he is my unquestioned first choice.

Re: Stamkos. The story was not an "April Fool". Sather did negotiate trade with Len Barrie but part owner Barrie did not have final authorithy to make the deal. I ws told by a former Ranger official that it was true.

Boyle is a solid 3rd liner. I think people hate him because he looks like he's a slow skater (he's mediocre) and he's not a physical enough as he should considering he's 6'7" and almost 250lbs.

Played great when the team needed him. It's not his fault guys like Richard and Stepan can't fulfill their roles.

I know some of you are in favor of new blood ... a new coach all together ... perhaps some with no NHL experience ... but with a team that has some star power and a built to win window of 3-5Y (depending on what happens) do we need a well established coach who will command some respect?

He can bring Malhotra with him.

Can you fill me out on his coaching? I know nothing about him really.

Respect is earned, not commanded.
