Pre-Game Talk: Toronto vs Flyers - March 25th 2025, TSN4

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

If this doesn't get them going i don't know what will.....

Regardless if St. Louis got worse under him later on, he was able to get the best out the team when it mattered the most. Hopefully he can do the same here.

His system are old school style, in a month or so we will see if there's justification for running it. At the very least, Toronto has been playing in a "playoff system" for the entire year, they should be used to it. Where as Keefe would run a puck possession system up until game 1, and they would suddenly change their system to collapse and dump the puck in..

Their playoff system has them as a .500 team against playoff teams...

I just don't like the excuse that he needs longer to get his system to work, it's lazy.

Well they had a chance to get 1st in the Atlantic with a win against a shitty Nashville team. If that wasn't motivation enough then nothing will be. The guys will play as hard as how they feel that given day.
The Leafs will benefit from an easy schedule and a Panthers team that looks to mostly be playing out the string.

I would argue that the leafs are just playing out the string every bit the same as the Panthers. The Leafs only show up when they feel like it
Could be, but one team has an easier schedule than the other, which I think will end up being the difference.

It'll come down to the two games against each other. Leafs win both, they have a decent chance at the division. Panthers win both have to figure it is theirs. A split favours the Cats too since they currently hold the tiebreakers (barely).

Keefe waited until games 5,6,7 before switching and last year they were really good at it.

Berube doesn’t have the talent throughout the lineup that he had in StL.

That's debatable. Their win was probably the biggest fluke in the cap era. They had the worst playoff record of any cup winner in the cap era. They had the worst playoff goal differential of any cup winner in the cap era. They were negative in expected goals. And they probably lose to Boston if Boston wasn't decimated by injuries.

There's nothing inherently better about this system in the playoffs. All kinds of systems win, and if anything, this kind of system has won less. It's been detrimental every time we shifted towards it in the past, and not only did we double down, we're actually doing worse at that system.

This has to be a blow out, don’t you think? Squeaking out a 3-2 win doesn’t inspire much confidence. Even though it is a big 2 points.
Flyers gave up a TD to Chicago this weekend. Stat padding time for Mitch if he wants to get to 100 points, Willie if he wants to get close to 50 goals. and JT who needs a few cookies to help him get closer to that 3x$7m contract.

No? When the playoffs start in 3 weeks are you going to be like "all good we got this we blew out the Flyers a few weeks back"? I never understand these posts

Assuming the leafs beat the flyers tonight, the leafs would actually hold the tiebreaker, so if they split the two Florida games I think the leafs win the division.

We have 12 games left including tonight. Of those 12, 5 are against what I consider a contending team (Panthers x2, Lightning, Hurricanes, LA Kings).

The rest we SHOULD win (Flyers, Habs, Ducks, Sharks, Jackets, Sabres, Wings).

Absolutely 0 excuse to not win the division

TB and Fla have a pretty easy schedule too. It might come down to the Wings game on Apr 17th
