sure the players will love going there in mid Feb.
Please god no, the only saving grace in Canada is that the coverage of the ASG is minimal because it’s usually in some southern American city. It’s a brutal weekend for real hockey fans.

If it’s in Toronto it will be TSN’s only topic for 3 straight weeks.

Brutal!

I don't remember that being true when Montreal hosted it in 2009 and Ottawa hosting in 2012. Those were the last two times any Canadian city hosted the All Star Game.

The truth is Toronto should have hosted it in 2017 during their 100th anniversary, since Montreal did that for their 100th anniversary in 2009. So, the NHL was 7 years late giving Toronto their first All Star Game since 2000.

That'll teach them.

Players should have said they preferred cold weather for the Allstar break and today it would have been announced that Arizona was hosting 2024 and not Toronto. Bettman loves to do the opposite of what any players or fans actually want in anything related to hockey

It was being reported last month that Toronto was the favorite to host it next year. So, this news isn't that much of a surprise as you might think.

if they have to do this cringe fest might as well do it in a place where they can milk the most money out of it. Toronto fits the bill….

Pretty sure the Leafs told the league they wanted the ASG back in 2017 for their centennial season. But the league was asleep at the switch.

That's true and at that time Tim Leiweke said how Montreal got the All Star Game in 2009 for their 100th anniversary. However, when have we known the NHL to go on previous precdent?

“Montreal got it all in a short period of time for their 100th anniversary, and that’s not lost on Gary and what he wants to do to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the league,” Leiweke said. “That said, we still have to bid on it, and we still have to win it.”
