Our lousy media carries the water for the league once again. Sportsnet panel justifying the non-call saying Whitecloud “didn’t leave his feet” while showing footage of him clearly doing so. Mike Johnson on Twitter fighting for his life to justify the non-call.
I haven't seen any of that, but I know what I saw. They can all go suck an egg. If that hit was on a non-Leaf, it would have been min 4 min, prob 5 no questions asked and no media pandering.

I can't believe the BS I'm hearing today about the Knies hit.

I know people love Mike Johnson, and I like his unique approach to colour commentating, but, man, a lot of his takes are annoying as hell.

Only Carlo was on-point with the Knies hit discussion. He read out a quote from the NHL rule book about punishing accidental hits to the head and Duthie was stuttering and could not form a coherent response to disprove Carlo's point. This after Duthie patronized everyone who questioned the hit. I mean, thinking that the degree of difference between Reeves's and Whitecloud's hits are big enough to warrant a 5 game suspension for one guy and nothing for the other guy is the "cuckoo" and unhinged take. Not the other way around.

Mike Johnson is absolutely awful.

This hit last night would have never been a penalty in the past. However, since they have declared war on headshots, this is a perfect example of a bad hit.

Left his feet, lifted into the hit.

Reaves didn’t leave his feet, but the head was the primary point of contact.

If Reaves was a 5 game suspension, than the Whitecloud hit should be at least 5.

The NHL really is bush league

Yep.

Mike Johnson is turning into Gord Millar for me. I like him calling the games, but I don't want to hear his radio segments anymore.

Noodles is pissing me off so much right now. What is this guy doing on a Toronto based show everything is negative towards the Leafs. He has the most punchable face ever

Bad vibes from him in the second hour. Got really jaded when O-Dog made the tamest criticism of the Oilers. Then went after Grebenkin for his skating which personally I think is a weird criticism. He really dominated MJ's slot which I didn't appreciate. I'm not as down on Noodles as I used to be but today was a prime example of him at his worst.

To no one's surprise, he still thinks Ottawa will make the playoffs. If Grebenkin were on the Sens, he would've praised his pest like mentality

Apparently, which is a dumb move imo as it only draws more attention to it.
James Mirtle is a clown. He blocks anyone who disagrees with him or challenges him. You can’t be that soft and work in media. I’ve said this before but we have some of the worst reporters in all of sports. Mirtle, Siegel, Johnson, hell even O-Dog can be a loser at times. Only guy that really keeps it real is Hayes

Never a good idea comparing the leafs and the sens. Thought an experienced NHL watcher like Mirtle would know this.

Yeah I was gonna say. Sens always look like World-Beaters against the Leafs and we always look like shit. Using those games as a barometer for how close the standings will be is a fools errand.
