Yep, Jim Ralph and Dennis Beyak if I remember correctly, when Joe Bowen was on TV.

I still say it's a crime that Joe Bowen is banished to the radio, and doesn't do the regional Leafs tv broadcasts.
Nah. I prefer both Chris Cuthbert and Gord Miller to laughing boy.

In response to Overdrive today, are we going to have this " the rest of the world is catching up" convo every time Canada doesn't win? I swear I've been hearing this for the last 15 years at various points. Remember when we went 7 years without winning and all the panic and " the world has caught up" talk? Then we went on a run of winning 5 in a row. Then another long drought and then coming into this tourney we had won 4 of the last 6 and 2 in a row. It's almost like things are cyclical and whenever Canada doesn't win it doesn't automatically mean that Canada is no longer the clear cut superpower or that the rest of the world has caught up.

Not to mention that Canada had Bedard, Fantilli, Benson and Korchinski that were eligible to play but didn't and the Czech team still barely scraped by on a fluke goal and shoddy goaltending

I pray TSN doesn't replace Poulin with Carlo on the Leafs panels. My ears hurt listening to Carlo......He. takes forever to get to his point and he struggles to piece sentences together lol. My vote would be Frank Corrado

I think Carlo's role should not expand beyond what it currently is. I like him, but he comes off as an idiot way too often, sorry Carlo.

Franky would be my pick as well. I do wonder if they look for a new hire, someone who has management experience in the league and is now (obviously) retired. Burkie?

Burke is Executive Director of the PWHL Players Associations so he's plenty busy

Dying laughing at the fallout of the Craig button interview on Overdrive. Craig can be such an obnoxious twat

just listened to the interview

Not a chance in hell the better sentimental matchup is Sweden-USA,

Sweden Finland for gold in one of those countries is always the best. I will actually watch that...... Will not watch any other combination.

Button is just an idiot

Sweden and Finland would be OK and I would watch that, but Canadians are not going to tune into the final unless they can hate watch ‘big brother‘.

The only problem with the US in the WJHC final is Dave Starman and EJ Hradek do the play by play, and they’re actually worse than listening Mike Johnson squeal like my niece.

The US ended up just barely getting by Finland, scoring the go ahead goal with a couple minutes left. This after Button claimed Finland had no shot and the US was going to win by 5 goals.

Feels like Corrado is already the replacement. He has been doing colour for Montreal games lately, something Poulin did occasionally. I think panel work will likely be in store for him as well

Corrado is head and shoulders above Poulin, Cola and Noodles already. All three of those seem terrified of being even mildly critical of the host team, Montreal or Ottawa .
Corrado and Mike Johnston will call it as they see it which shows it’s not a TSN a policy to be super biased in favour of the Canadian team. Refreshing to have a semblance of integrity on local broadcasts.

Should be a good game. You may not want to miss it.

I think both Frankie and MJ are eyeing jobs in the States instead of local stuff in Toronto.

If I was a SN exec and assuming they re new their NHL deal, I would do everything to bring in Corrado to be on the panel. He is already far superior to everyone on that panel including Bieksa imo

What are everyones thoughts on that SN panel the other night talking about the Perfetti and Hartman situation? Sam, Jamal Mayers and Jennifer Botterill...?

Most likely yeah. MJ in great position with new Canadian rights coming up. He’s gotta be the favourite for the lead colour spot no matter how the rights are settled, Simpson doesnt have enough charisma to hold on to top spot imo.
But I could see a US network being interested in Johnson as well. Corrado is definitely an up and comer.

Have you heard MJ on the WJHC games? He’d have to change his style to get on a US network.

The goalie let in a softie and early defensive breakdown, other than that, the US outplayed Finland, IMO.

That whole panel should be fired into the sun

I can't speak for either of them, but perhaps both are completely content being able to work in their hometown market on one of the two premier hockey broadcasters in the country. With the media rights opening up in just over 2 years, they can basically set a blank cheque for the retention of their services. Johnson being the lead guy for TSN now that Ferraro is gone, and Corrado working his way up with the potential to be on the lead panel with Duthie, Pounder and one of the Insiders. I'd be happily content seeing the latter take over for O'Neill on the broadcasts.

I think he's been very good on the broadcasts. He certainly can use some refinement, but overall he's smart and smooth. Very comparable to Ferraro at the same stage of their respective careers I don't think he would be challenged at all moving to a bigger stage:

Watched the first period of the Leafs/Kings the other night. Cassie Campbell was doing the Colour Commentary, did she leave CBC?
