Between being hurt and disinterested I haven’t really liked a lot from Matthews game this year. Just feels like a guy going through the motions and not trying to elevate his game or prove anything. At this rate he’s going to devolve into a middle age Ovechkin who likes to lean up on the far boards and get fed scoring chances.

We have been the better team, with two exceptions: the entire 4th line (which is constantly being hemmed in) and Nylander, 'cause he doesn't seem to be that interested in winning puck battles or doing anything, really, other than cheat for breakaways. Matthews is also half-assing it a bit too much for my liking.

I actually don't mind Patches there; he's winning board battles and taking it to the front of the net, which you want. It's MATTHEWS that is being annoying on that line...

As I stated, it reminds me of the Montreal series, when Marner and Hyman were buzzing and Matthews was playing like he didn't give a rat's ass.
