Matthews playing like he has been freakin high and drunk at the same time for a 5 games or so

The way he’s skating it looks like he’s not in peak condition to keep his feet moving like when he’s really on. With so many days off you’d think he’d be recharged but it’s as bad it was last week.

He’s constantly in that puck watching, light coasting mode and that’s not what makes him successful.

Well, he was inexplicably poor in the fall after his hot start and before his hot scoring streak. These dips in play are the cause for his relatively low point totals and why he’s not really a Hart candidate.
