I think Vesey has looked bad at every chance so far lol but I actually still wanna give that line at least another few looks in a row. We don't really need the LW on that line to do a whole lot and I like the fact that he can at least bury the puck if they set him up on a tee.

Vesey himself stated that he hasn't been happy with how he's played so far, so now that the monkey's off his back, I'm curious to see if he can be more of a factor.

After spending quite a bit of time recruiting Barabanov, he's not going to be taken out of the lineup so quick. Perhaps in situations where there are three games in four nights... maybe then, but don't count on it otherwise.

I think lineup stays the same Friday
Robertson in for Barabanov and Bogo sites in favour of Lehtonen Saturday
Only way Lehtonen gets into the lineup is if they take Barabanov out and go with 7D, unless they try to sneak Dell through waivers tomorrow.

Ottawa was a surprisingly tough matchup last year and I expect the same this year.

That being said 3 out of 4 points should come from this at minimum.

they were a tough match up because they hardly took any shifts off while we mostly coasted and relied on skill for pretty much every game against them.

we gotta match our skill with the work ethic and ottawa will not be a tough match up at least for couple years

I hope Dell Gets Saturdays game and Soup on Friday. We have 3 goalies why not use them. It's not like the bar is set very high with last night performance.

Hopefully we get more organized, A breakway goal and 2 many 2 on 1's last game. We looked gassed out there sometimes. Also screw the Sens

one side bonus about playing all the canadian teams so many times this year is that unlike other years, where the other canadian teams had the leafs games marked on their calendars and really got "up" for them, that will wear off a bit as the season goes on and the Leafs become just another game for them.

of course, at the beginning of the year, that won't be the case, as all will be looking to make a statement against the big market leafs early on.

On paper should be good for us as we went 3-0 against them last year outshooting, outchancing and outworking them in every game, even with some major injury issues but its early and they have had a ton of turnover, including in net, so who knows.

Sens have a terrible team but a lot of Tough/Rough guys this year. I dont expect Bogosian to sit in these 2 games. If Lehtonen draws in...it will most likely be for Dermott.

Also...I'd like to see either Robertson or Joey Anderson come in over Barbanaov

Yeah Vesey looked pretty bad. I'd have to agree with most people on that. That goal he got was pure luck.

I'm not very optimistic about the bottom 6. Looks to have the same problem as last year - they don't get enough ice time to score much, and they don't provide anything in regards to physical play or shutdown ability.

I'm reposting this from another thread, for the people complaining about the quality of various players, etc...

Just your friendly reminder... that was game 1... with no preseason, after six months or something off. Andersen always starts slow, players aren't in game shape... at this point, just have the will to win, and in a week or two, ALL teams will start to play better. If you watched any of the Oilers vs. Canucks game last night, they looked even worse... it's just sloppy hockey right now... that will change, the game will tighten up, and we will need to be better, top to bottom...

It's sloppy hockey, after a lot of time off, and no preseason... they aren't going to look good... have some patience people.

I dont think you are gonna many big shake ups in the roster after 1 game. Probably be mostly the same group other then the goalie I would think.

Well, I don't think everyone on the roster last night "made the team" in such a way that them not being on the roster night-in and night-out would be considered a "shake up". Wouldn't be crazy to see someone like Bogo or Dermott scratched and Barabanov to Taxi squad in exchange for Lehtonen/Sandin and Robertson coming into the line-up for a game here and there, as part of an extended training camp rotation to get a better look at guys.

Except we can't do that, the only guy that can come out of the lineup is Barabanov, anyone else needs to go through waivers. So only way Lehtonen or Sandin get in the lineup without injury is if we go with 7D with Barabanov coming out of the lineup. At least until they try to sneak Dell through waivers.
