Don’t ever tell me Cooper isn’t a great coach, he had them dialed right in to start. All purpose.
Some team's get to finals without amazing coaches....this could be a core problem too. Notice that there wasn't been much from the three highest paid players on the ice (Tavares, Marner, Matthews).

My two cents:

I don't think we played terrible but we certainly didn't come out flying. The game as a whole feels awfully low energy for a playoff game.

We did make dumb mistakes that ended up in the back of our net. That is unfortunately is a trend in the playoffs: We give the other team a free goal or even a free game due to mistakes and then end up having to fight the margins.

Samsonov looks shaky and that may be the worst news of the period if that doesn't change.

Keefe really did this team no favours. We have three good centres. Use them as centres, ffs. Matthews / Tavares / ROR. 1/2/3. Also I know Liljegren struggled after the deadline, but the last week or so, he was looking like himself again. Playing Schenn and Holl over him is sabotaging this team.
Exactly he is doing the same thing to Rielly. He is an idiot who likes to mess with success in an attempt to make him self look good.

Rielly should be with 78.
Schenn and McCabe
55 and 3

I’ll bet Dekes For Dubas is frantically working on his 2023 Leaf playoff failure excuses.

* Success isn’t Linear

* It’s really only Dubas’ 2nd year fully in charge

* It’s Lou’s fault

* The officiating is flawed

* Nobody could have anticipated the flat cap

* The advanced stats say the leafs should have won

Feel free to add to the list!

Leafs need to beat Vasilevskiy at least 4 times to win this game.

Personally its still possible but not likely the way the team is playing scared, and they look defeated and not ready to rally.

Lets see how the Leafs respond and come out in the 2nd ready to unload the tank in a massive comeback or more of the same.

I've seen enough!

Knies in for ZAR or Lafferty
Lily in for Schenn or Holl

Need players who can actually move the puck and create plays. "Oh but what about the young mistakes?!?" Our vets are making mistakes but don't have the same upside as those two.
That's what I keep saying. Let our younger more talented guys get in to play instead of vets that don't move the needle much. If they make mistakes LET THEM so that they can gain the experience necessary to get better and don't have the coach bench them because they made a bad play or two.

We keep letting our vets make mistakes and keep playing, time to let our future players be able to do the same.

I was referring to the non call where after that penalty call... the Tampa guy hauled down our d man. Accidental or not he did.

Right after that Tampa scored.

Never would of happened.

I'm not whining. Leafs played like shit the first 10 minutes.
The high stick on Matthews right before our high sticking penalty....

Keefe in the locker room like.....

When we get one, we'll get rolling. The fans will get into it, and things will happen.

Just get the next one, please, guys.

It's like Dubas made a team to spite us for not wanting mik and engvall instead of actually trying to improve upon them. It's becoming a common theme where we're forced to miss guys who weren't good enough themselves. That bottom 6 is so bad.

JT - O'Reilly - Nylander makes no sense to me. Both JT and O'Reilly look so slow and Nylander creates so much on the transition with his speed and his linemates aren't anywhere close.

Yep .. I'm souring on Keefe on a few things now but one is forcing this pairing when you can roll Tavares and ROR on separate lines with speedy wingers .. you're taking the offense away from the third line.

We're not winning anything with this kind of performance.

if you're not scoring, you're hitting everything on sight. It's playoffs ffs.

You need players ready for beating in from of the net, this perimeter game that generates low % shots is killing me. We're just making goalies look good.

Brodie doesn’t get a pass that was just a brain dead penalty to take

I agree with you, but also take a look at all the players who will miraculously stick to Victor Hedman on fly bys.

I mean who cares, the Leafs are so bad they've dug their own grave tonight. So really no point in really getting too upset over external factors.

So you called a Schenn "a problem" to clarify, but deny the fact that there are fans who scapegoat him. Ok got it!
I think his play this season has been. This season.

If you want to isolate the first period, do you mind highlighting those posts for me? You know, since my response was after and all...

50% of this board are absolute losers

3 pks in the 1st doesnt help
I am reading the posts rapid fire and can't make sense of the bulk of it.. Keefe can't make adjusments... he makes too many adjustments... and it goes downhill from there.

Giordano had a very very rough period of hockey... Hopefully he has that out of his system... Brodie needs to be better too.
