My two cents:

I don't think we played terrible but we certainly didn't come out flying. The game as a whole feels awfully low energy for a playoff game.

We did make dumb mistakes that ended up in the back of our net. That is unfortunately is a trend in the playoffs: We give the other team a free goal or even a free game due to mistakes and then end up having to fight the margins.

Samsonov looks shaky and that may be the worst news of the period if that doesn't change.

Keefe really did this team no favours. We have three good centres. Use them as centres, ffs. Matthews / Tavares / ROR. 1/2/3. Also I know Liljegren struggled after the deadline, but the last week or so, he was looking like himself again. Playing Schenn and Holl over him is sabotaging this team.

Seemed like an almost even period overall. Lightning playing with a bit more urgency and that’s how it goes. The score shows utter domination by lightning but that wasn’t remotely getting outclassed. Just finding a way to get it done by Tampa as usual.

I for one loved getting rid of our best bottom-6 play driver and defensive player at the deadline to replace him with *checks notes* Sam Lafferty. Not to mention sacrificing Sandin, and healthying Liljegren to play *checks notes again* Schenn and Holl.

That’s why one coach was thankful he earned respect at the handshake line and the other doesn’t give a damn about earning respect from the opposition.

If they can't start connecting on passes and supporting the puck this will be over real, real fast. Tampa owned the neutral zone all period long. Leafs look SCARED.
