If Samsonov plays to his capability, we will win.
Except the goalie in the opposing net has 2 recent Stanley Cups and a Conn Smythe in 2021 as playoff MVP.

Unfortunately, Sammy doesn't need to play to only his abilities, he needs to outperform his direct comparable in the the opposition net.

Therein lies the problem, as Sammy clearly enters the series as the 2nd best goalie based on past results, and needs to come out as the best to win the series.

Well, partners, let me paint y'all a picture of how them Toronto Maple Leafs are gonna lasso up a victory against them Tampa Bay Lightnin's in that there playoff series.

First off, reckon them Leafs got themselves a mighty fine roster. Yessiree, them boys got talent deeper than a Texas-sized canyon. Their top line, with that Auston Matthews fella and his sidekick, Mitch Marner, will be shootin' more goals than a gunslinger in a showdown.

Next up, them Leafs done gone and hired themselves one sharp-shootin' coach, ol' Sheldon Keefe. He's got a keen eye for strategy, and I reckon he'll outwit them Lightnin's like a fox in a henhouse.

Now, y'all know a good defense is as important as a trusty steed, and the Leafs got themselves a couple of real workhorses. Morgan Rielly be protectin' their net like it's the last waterin' hole in the desert.

Them Leafs are also mighty hungry for a win, seein' as they ain't tasted the sweet nectar of Stanley Cup victory in quite some time. You can bet your boots they'll be fightin' tooth and nail for every inch of ice.

So, to sum it up, partner, them Toronto Maple Leafs are gonna round up them Tampa Bay Lightnin's like a herd of wild mustangs, and ride off into the sunset with a series win. Yeehaw!

He just needs to not allow the back breaking goals we've come to know in the past with Campbell/Andersen.
He plays solid and it should be enough.

I have no idea what that means, but I'm with you!

Hanta Yo baby, Hanta Yo!

GLG!!
Were you drinking more than me during the Ron Wilson era? Hanta Yo and Burn the Boats were his war cries....

"clear the way"

"Hanta Yo," meaning "clear the way" in Dakotah, tells the story of a small tribe of Teton Souix which resisted white influence during the time between 1750-1834.

Can you save it for after they lose in the playoffs and just be an actual fan of the Leafs for once?

His statement is not even factual. Sammy does not need to be the better goalie. Leafs need to be the better team. Sammy just has to be good. Vasy can be great and the Leafs can still win.

Outwork
Outhustle
Punish every opportunity
Finish every check
Don't let up!

"Good teams are built from the goalie out".

Goaltending will be a key to the series and pointing out that Vasilevskiy is one of the best in the world and that Sammy will need to beat and be better than in 4 of the 7 games for Leafs to advance, isn't an anti Leaf sentiment its stating the obvious. Doesn't mean Sammy can't do it, but he will need to outperform Vas for Leafs to win games.

The goalie that gives up the less goals against in a game wins it for his team and that seems like basic common knowledge.

If Sammy stands on his head makes many key saves and stops 37 of 40 shots on net allowing 3 goals and posts a .925 sv% that's great, but I got news for you regardless how many shots Vas faces he MUST give up 4 goals against for Toronto to win the game. So as I stated not only does Sammy need to be good he has to be better than the opposition goalie and allow less goals against.

What Samsonov does personally is only 1/2 the equation to determine who wins the game.

Last year, I didn't have the confidence the Leafs would win the series going into Game 1. This year, I feel we are considerable favourites and that we'll beat Tampa in 6. However, with this confidence comes the awareness of the very real possibility we won't beat them. Whether it's Vasi going god mode, the refereeing, Sami allowing a weak goal at a critical time, or just plain bad luck. If we lose this one, it's gonna hurt a heckuva lot more.

Leafs will light him up. Vasi will be nothing more than his shadows
Sammy has tendencies to give up very bad goals. Last year in the playoffs he had a solid game, only to give up a very bad goal in OT

That he can't do here. But I honestly feel Leafs forwards will absolutely decimate Vasi
