a player can have a great game without getting multiple points, impact can be measured in many ways.

a player can have a great game without getting multiple points, impact can be measured in many ways.

For sure but when you are an 11 million dollar player you have to get points as well.
However it was just an exhibition game and fancy stats aren’t really relative to anything

i hear ya. just saying all things arent created equal, hes not gonna have multiple points every game but as long as he plays like he did tonight he will typically stuff the stat sheet. cheers

Oh, those stats are a combination of offensive and defensive impact. The first (CF%) is considered possession-based, the second (xGF%) is scoring chance based and the third (GF%) is straight goal differential, not really that fancy.

I think Marner (who has been best Leaf in the pre-season) is primed to have a massive year both offensively and defensively.

He's got the 6th most points in the NHL the last 3 years (ahead of MacKinnon and Marchand in fewer games) and broke the top ten in Selke voting last year.

Who knows what his ceiling is this year? Incredible player.

I’m actually going to dump my bitterness come opening night and try to regroup emotionally with this team. I’m a Leafs fan, it’s what we do. I’ll say this though, this regular season has a diminished extrapolation for me…. Just get in and we will see what’s really going here.
