Nah it’s just the fact that you can’t handle him coming at you for throwing stones when you live in a glass house.

It’s funny you speak the way you do about the leafs in almost every thread (checked your post history). Oilers are not great either, but don’t worry J5ck campbell is the answer!!

The oilers have a grand total of 1 more point than the leafs in the same amount of games, but you won’t mind if I say the oilers are “sucking ass at the moment” too?

Thought so.

Is this thread about the Oilers? No?

Go kick rocks. It’s hilarious how many of you Leafs fans screech when people are critical of your team. Always gotta deflect because you guys can’t handle it. I’m sure the Leafs board is more your speed.

They'll be fine and they'll figure it out - in the regular season at any rate. Sloppy and listless so far, but the kind of stretch you get annoyed about in February but put too much stock into in October. I do think, and I know it'll be difficult, they'll have to try and find a stopgap in nets if Murray is out long-term. If Samsanov top out as a ~50 game guy you want to be careful with (and that's understandable), you can't send Kallgren out there every 3rd or 4th game. Last night wasn't on him, the Leafs only played in fits and starts, but he's entirely mediocre and an AHLer. In a more competitive league and division, you can't kneecap yourself like that.

I guess.

They have a worse roster than last season so its not exactly surprising. They also aren't underperforming worse than other top teams from last season (like the cup finalists).

Good.

It might not hurt this team to be competing for a playoff spot late in the year, to light a fire under them. If this club learns to play through adversity, they'll be better for it. I'd rather have the flaws exposed now, and see how they respond or how they are addressed, rather that blow the doors of the barn in the regular season, waltz into the postseason, and shrink like a violet in the first round.

Their defense isn't great, and misses the Muzzin of three years ago, but really, the problem is the elite talent hasn't found their groove yet. Hopefully, Liljegren can find his feet quickly when he gets back and help with the depth back there.

AM34 has been fine he just isn't getting any puck lucks thus far. Could easily have 3 or so more goals on the year if things were falling his way.

Nylander has been awesome, JT has been more dynamic and involved than last year, Robertson has been a solid addition, and Marner has been solid (although inconsistent). The team had a worse start last year, so I'm not overly concerned.

Outside their top 4, this team is not very good. Take those 4 guys away and this team would looking at a lottery pick.

Tavares aint getting any younger and that D corps is geriatric.

Tick Tock. If they don't win a cup in the next two years, I would be willing to bet that both Matthews and Nylander walk.

Matthews and co. won’t stay quiet for much longer. Assuming goaltending is firm, they’re still easily be a playoff team.
They won’t have 4 muffins in their division. They are not coasting in this year that’s for sure.

This isn't surprising.

Leafs have as good a top 6 as any team in recent years. Samsonov looks like he will be at a minimum a NHL quality starter.

They have an AHL quality back up, very little depth, and an average to below average D corps. The D corps will almost always be depleted due to age, injuries should not be an excuse, they should be expected with so many 30+ players.

Buffalo, Ottawa and Detroit are much better teams than last year. There will be less easy points in the Atlantic this year. The Leafs will sort it out, and will most likely be a playoff team, but they are flawed, and an up/down season should surprise nobody.

If you were Sheldon Keefe at some point tomorrow you'd walk that statement back and say you used the wrong words. And then point out that fortunately the players didn't understand what you meant anyway -- which, of course, is a good thing.

Even better, now they know exactly what you really mean, as opposed to what they assumed you meant, it's all good.

Ultimately it's all about what you meant to mean. Pretty simple really.

They were 3-4-1 this same time span last season, this year 4-3-1.

Still lots of season left.
Swept under the rug is the fact that their 4 losses this season have been against non-playoff teams from last season and that 3 of their 5 losses in their first 8 games last season were against teams that made the playoffs, one of them making it to the Conference finals and the other two facing each other in the opening round...

Edit: Add to this the fact that three of the losses this year were against teams expected to finish 32nd, 31st and 30th according to the pundits.

Them playing to their competition has not been swept under the rug, it's been a heavily criticized point.

They have coasted the start of the year, especially against the lower tier teams, ala Montreal and SJ last night. It's been brought up plenty of times.

My point still stands, they had a worse record last year and they still finished with a 115.

No team likely gets to 115 in the east this year, no more feeding off the bottom 4 teams.
