Over 60 years following (“Football”The beautiful game)
I can’t remember a worse, whistle happy ref.Who refused to give up on our opponents getting back in the game. There were at least half dozen yellow card offenses, that he refused to issue. The guy was an absolute Clown.Rant over, well done our guys.:thumbu:

Words never typed before.
they made the world cup once in my lifetime ...and when i told people they would be lucky to even score a goal, i was laughed at, and they didnt. ...i dont expect them to this time either, unless they get into a soft group.

This team has several world-class offensive players - was that the case in 1986 as well?

Also, back then they qualified with a 5w - 0 draws - 3 losses, which seems like a bit of a fluke. Right now the team is 4-4-0.

Also in 1986 they were placed in a group with France, Soviet Union and Hungary - that's a tough group. Even Hungary used to be a top soccer nation (although maybe no longer by 1986). Only 24 nations made it to the tourney back then compared to 32 now so competition was tougher in general.

Also they got outscored by a total of 5 goals in those 3 matches, which isn't that bad considering the group. Scoring in general used to be lower back then, I think.

That '86 team qualified without facing the USA or Mexico; They had a relatively easy path compared to this year. Regardless, this year's team is legit as witnessed by 4 out of 6 points against Mexico, smacked the current #4 team Panama and not a loss yet.

I expect they'll qualify for the WC and unless they're in a really tough group could get a win. A modest group they can realistically finish 3rd. A soft group, advancing isn't out of the question. But predictions are really for later, for now the focus is on January's games and staying in the top 3 to advance the easy way.

nah, i dont want mexico to win any games ever, also i live in costa rica. VAMOS COSTA RICA!!!!
Costa rica and Panama losing and America and Mexico winning likely favours Canada though. Just guessing who's more likely to be in the 3rd-5th place range at the end, obviously any thing can happen.

if costa rica could make it to the quarters in 2014 we can too! haha
although i expect that kind of result next WC more than this one, with all our best players entering their primes.
