If they finish this out, it's a big win on the road with players missing. Really starts to make the road to qualification clearer. Even moreso if they get a draw or win vs USA.

A big win tonight. Almost there.

I almost expect them to win each night. The U.S is going to be the big test obviously. They squeaked by Mexico, so they can get it done.

Great effort by the CMNT. Down two key players and they came up big again on the road against a strong club.

CONCACAF officiating is so bad. Just finished the game. Great play by Buchanan to set up the own goal, and then that pass and touch by David on the 2nd. Shout to Borjan, that 1 save was incredible, how he had the strength to keep that out with very little momentum in his favor.

Horrendous, I mean Honduras should have had about 15 yellows and a couple reds resulting from multiple yellows in the same game. Between intentional fouls, spikes up, elbows out, challenges that had no chance to get the ball. In the end we got just as many yellows as they did somehow from doing just about nothing except the 1 that might have been warranted on the grab to prevent a decent chance as the guy ran past him.

what a game. Yes what a goal and what a save by Borjan. The save was arguably more important than the goal as far as outcome of the game. As for the goal, pass from Fraser was very good, but the way David took that ball and controlled it. so nice. As someone who plays soccer i am completely in awe of that goal.

Atiba and Cavalini's yellows were ridiculous. Still i feel like the officiating for that game wasn't brutal for concacaf standards. Bad, but nothing that really decided the game. I'll also say how relieved i am that VAR is in play (in the stadiums that can support it at least). I think that's one giant step forward in actually taking the crazy cheating out of the latin american teams.

Also i wish some fans would stop acting like we have this in the bag. Yes we are in a very good position, but the hex is so tight and we are a couple of dropped points from being in 3rd and 4th in all likelihood won't be that far away. All these positive results are massive. But it's not job done until it's actually done. The USA game is going to be super tough. In fact one has to assume that Mexico and the US will win the games against the lower placed teams. I see people talking mad bullshit on facebook about how we're going to be top 10 in the world or something stupid, but we haven't even qualified yet. This is in no way going to be a cake walk.

i live in costa rica, yay for the ticos!!!

whos coming with me for the game in san jose vs CR in march??? hahaha

If I don't need a PCR test to get back into Canada I'll be there (so I likely will not be there lol).

I'll never understand why Fraser was not given more of a run during his time with TFC. Incredibly solid player, has good work rates, and as we saw last night he can pick out a peach of a ball.

Could really use a player like him in midfield right now

It was truly a special 1st touch of the ball. That ball came in with such pace. I have played soccer my entire life and I am not sure I could have played that better if I were allowed to use my hands. 3 touches of the ball from mid field to the back of the net. Sensational really.

I just don't know how any Canadian can't be overwhelmingly proud of this team TBH. They just battle non stop.

Borjan's save before the David goal was outstanding.

Made me some money too.

They'll be in tough on Sunday, but hopefully it's nice and brisk for our Neighbors to the south. I know the goal is to get all 9 pts in this window, but a draw against the states would be absolutely phenomenal TBH. Not that you want to look ahead past Sunday, but you gotta aim for 4pts in these next 2 games. With Mexico and Panama playing Feb 2nd, we could really set ourselves up big going into that final qualifying window.

What a team!

I don't think the cold will be too much of a factor. The USA did their camp in the North of the States and have been playing out of Columbus. Not as cold as up here but still brisker. Plus we did out camp in Florida lol, kind of switched places with them.

The win last night and a win against the US would put Canada at 22 points. Panama, in 4th, can still reach 29 points if they win out. So, they still have a ways to go to clinch a spot.

Just to add to this, if Canada were to win both and Panama were to lose to Mexico and draw or lose their other game, that would clinch it.

Being more realistic, Canada has a 5 point cushion and could really use points against the US. They need to win the other game, but even if Canada lost both, they likely go into the last 3 at worst 2 up. Costa Rica can now only hit 26 total.

My plan is to go to the Jamaica game here in Canada and then head out to Panama City. You going from Costa to Panama?

My initial plan was a week in Costa Rica and then fly back after for the Jamaica game. But I 100% had covid a couple weeks ago and couldn't get an official test, so I'm afraid if I go to CR I can still residually test positive on the PCR and won't be able to fly back.
