Probably wasn’t expecting that terrible pass by Marner
You probably shouldn't ever pass on a 2 on 1 on the PK but you definitely shouldn't that early in the rush, they were barely over the blue line when Marner passed it. You could tell he saw a quick gap in the Dman but still way to high risk of a play.

Put Matthews with Reaves and Lorentz see what happens lol

Matthews definitely needs a blue collar reset from time to time and right now he’s long overdue. With Marner and Nylander on the line he’s barely even interested in carrying the puck and skating like it’s Nathan Phillips Square.

Yeah he made bad decision there

Do you think this narrative is based on one bad play tonight ?
You obviously haven’t watched many games this year
I have watched almost every game. Also I am just being a little bit of a dick.

I seriously doubt he doesn't care though. Something is hindering him and it's worrisome.

When I think of the back issues Bossey and Lemieux went through, as well as Orr, there is cause to be alarmed

The weird thing about it was Kyle first came in and started talking like he was revolutionizing hockey. He talked about our 'program' like it was some University team. He talked about how we were going to concentrate on all levels of the programs. How we would see guys go from the ECHL, through the AHL and into the NHL. There was going to be a conveyor belt of talent just pumping through the program.

As soon as they actually had a guy, who they could use as the poster for this new wave looking at how organizations or 'programs' where going to be set up, he traded him away for f***ing Malgin. 😄

Forgot to mention too that he is a legacy player, which inherently has value. A crime to give up on him like that. Dubas is the most overrated executive I've ever seen.

I don’t know how this team is so consistently awful at making the lines.

We should get one of the macro savaunt’s who can figure out the best combinations based on expected XGF % + watching from the press box to make the decisions. Because the coaches are terrible at creating the lines.

I just can’t believe they never went back to Matthews-Domi when it worked so well.
The last guy that would actually hold anybody accountable with his line combos was probably Babcock.

I sometimes wonder what Mario could have been without his injuries

We have seen this from Matthews though. If he has back issues, well the team needs to call that out and give him the treatment and rest he needs

Put matthews on ltir for the next four years and sign a couple of players that know how to compete. He just doesn’t have the it factor to carry a team on his back. Great goal scorer but doesn’t have a mean streak in his body. At his size and weight if he had a nasty streak he could be one of the best who ever played.

For leading all forwards in ice time Mitch didn’t do anything.

I really believe he would have made a run at Gretzky's records.

Firing lasers on the PP is the lowest physical effort thing you can do that gets you paid and keeps the media off your back. Scoring on breakaways is a close second. If he’s half assing it defensively and on the boards but scoring effortlessly sure I’ll buy that he got paid and got lazy, but he’s visibly completely off on the easy natural talent offensive stuff.

I’d imagine if I just got paid a shitload of money and decided to stop caring, blocking shots and PKing would be the last thing I’d want to do.

😅 won't be much different then what we're seeing now unfortunately, and I do mean it. The only explanation is that he's still hurt or can't handle the weight on his left shoulder.
I'm betting that low grade flu going around is hitting some of em.

Anybody other than me had enough of MNM

Gadzic really wants to see somebody fill Pacioretty in, I wonder if it goes back to his playing days?

Yeah Matthews, Marner and Nylander suck together. Nylander and Marner making high skill, low impact plays and Matthews just taking the night off offensively and defensively whilst trying to look busy on low effort defensive coverage.

Yep I always said that. Rather have a kid that gives er 100% with less skill than these guys that are talented but only show up 50% of the time and getting paid as one of the top players in the league.

Kinda missed the first 2 but watching the highlights.

Leafs kinda f***ed up giving that one up. Can't blame Woll. Guy roofed it. Woll played well after.

Great by Domi to get another tonight. When one goes in they seem to start adding up easier. That was a nice quick release. Players need to do that more in general. Just gives a goalie that little bit of less time to react. Nice shot by him.

Here goes the 2nd. Go Leafs Go.
