Anyone know where you can find stats for power plays in the postseason? It seems to be a “common knowledge” thing that power plays disappear in the playoffs but I’d love to see the numbers. Anecdotally, It feels like the last couple of years power plays in the playoffs have been on the rise.

It seems like that to me too. We always here "refs put their whistles away" but I just don't think that is true anymore. I see the playoff refs making the same stupid calls/non-calls as in the regular season, and ignoring something one time but calling it another.

Thanks for posting that! So it basically confirms what the eye sees- there is really no significant difference (at its most you see 1 more opportunity every 2 games). The conventional wisdom, while true at one time, no longer hold. So this is interesting in terms of losing Krug.
I am still okay with him going if he asking for a long term and high dollar amount. I think the PP will be fine without him generally speaking ( I expect it to be a bit worse) but the money saved on Krug leading to another line that is threat is huge. No longer will teams know they can shut down Bergeron's line and probably shut down the Bruins. Presumably the scorer we bring in will add something to a PP as well, further mitigating the loss of Krug.
I hate to see the guy go- he's got tons of heart and at his best some sublime passing skills, but I don't reckon it will be much of a net loss.
DISCLAIMER: If Sweeney does a Sweeney and brings in some washed up old hack that used to be able to score goals once upon a time and calls it good, all bets are off

When did I say anything about trips to the finals? Dude look your fighting with yourself I honestly ya e zero idea what you’re even talking about. My exact quote was improving on this part season would be advancing past the second round.

If Krug is given the green light to jump into the rush as he sees fit playing with Crosby/Malkin he's going to tear it up.
I mean look what they did with Justin Shultz a few years back

Perfect analysis. Signing him for a higher rate when he is what he is and he isn't going to magically become Dennis Seidenberg isn't prudent. If/when they get a draft pick for him and IF/WHEN they make the changes that are screaming to be made I'll be surprised. IMO Sweeney loves each and every defenseman that we have and would love to keep them all. He's also mediocre in picking and acquiring forward talent. The only two that I can think of that were valuable additions were Coyle and Johansson. While I'll be glad if he gets a good pick for TK, I'll be holding my breath when it's time to cash it in.

If we’re all taking about improving the teams overall success, and that means playoff success, then it’s worth remembering that he’s the most productive defenseman they have in the playoffs and the best playoff mentality/intensity on their blue line. The lack of it across the roster has been a flaw in the team and sunk them this year. His loss only makes it worse.

It’s probably worth noting that Cassidy said he’s weighing going 5 forwards(assumption 37,88,63,74,46) over Chuck or Gryz bumping up to unit 1 if the front office lets Krug go.

Sucks to see Krug go but I fully believe Grzelcyk or McAvoy can replace him on PP #1 (preferably Grzelcyk, with McAvoy's minutes being used more for 5v5 and 4v5) and they will be just fine. Hopefully they can get at least a 4th for his rights.

Will suck to see him go. Wish we could've gotten over the hump in one of the runs with him. I remember the years we clamored for a PMD and boy, was this guy the prescription.
