Except you are totally wrong. He played major minutes due to injuries to Hedman, McDonagh, etc. At one point they were rolling out 4 AHL defensemen. So if being one of 2 NhL defenseman makes you a top 2 defenseman, than I guess he’s a top 2 defenseman. He would have been a 5-6 on the Lightning next year.

I’m thrilled he got a huge contract. I’m even happier that Toronto was the one to pay him.
I would love to hear your reasoning for why Raddysh played over two and a half minutes more per game than any other Lightning defenseman in the playoffs, when Hedman was the only injury they had.

He was a AHL/NHL tweener until last season. With Hedman back he was at best #5, and fighting D'Astous and Lilleberg for ice time. In my opinion his new contact is 4 years too long and $3m overpaid.
He hasn't played in theAHL since 22-23 and has gotten better every year.

One of those guys had a ten year track record and the other like 15. Apples to oranges.
Their track records are meaningless when it comes to the future value of their contracts. They are all terrible contracts. It's irrational to criticize one and celebrate another because of past accomplishments.

No it's not. You can rely on a guy who has a 10 year record more than you can on a guy with one.

Tanev had surgery on his anterior and posterior core and obliques
Carlo had surgery
OEL is 35 and shouldnt be playing the minutes he is
McCabe is a 2nd pairing guy
rielly look to have checked out mentally from playing for the leafs again

That defense core needs some work big time

Wasn’t stecher playing like 20 minutes a night

I get the signing, as that defense core needs some work
it just insanely desperate

No, you can't. Where did relying on Marchand get Florida last season? At the end of the day, the contract to each of Marchand. Eklbad and Raddysh are equally irrational because none of them can maintain a high level of play by the end of these contracts. That's just the nature of signing a professional athlete to a long term contract at that age. You hope to get a few good years out of it and then worry about the rest of it later.
