More like Leaf haters are sad they didn't get to see the Leafs gift a top 10 pick to the Bruins and then didn't get to dunk on Toronto with Marner and now don't get to see them give up future high firsts as they will be retooled and in the playoffs.
Dude what? People not haters of the Leafs have been on here and elsewhere for a decade pointing out these are clear terrible decisions your fans keep supporting.

There are some leaf haters around, but plenty of people pointing out roster construction matters. Having a #1 Dman you can trust on the ice in all situations matters so much to success. Raddysh does not solve that conundrum and it is clear why Tampa is letting him walk.

This is definitely going to work out well for TOR.

Seriously though, if they can get a few years of Raddysh with a similar level of play he provided this past season it will be decent.

8 years for a 31 year old is tough but for the AAV isn’t horrible.

It's a bit of a risk if this past year was just an anomaly. But could turn out to be great if it's not. 8x8.5 would be a steal if he continues this level of play.
I think even if he dips to 50 he will be a big add, that shot from the point is something we have not had in ages. He should do ok since he is guaranteed to be on the first pp and likely gets first pairing minutes. First PP unit of Matthews, Nylander, Knies, McKenna and Raddysh should be above average.

There isn't a #1D available so the next best thing is building a solid balanced D core and implementing a system to maximize your offensive talent. Canes just won a cup without a #1C which is even more rare than winning without a #1D which has been done before several times in the last decade.

Tampa are making a mistake. Their core are old and they are cap strapped and being short sighted. They will start their journey into a Penguins type decline this year

The don’t have cap space to sign him.

I just watched what happened with Marner this could be worse . If this guy doesn't perform to that contract early in the term this goes south quick. This is a band aid solution to a team with many holes.
Took all of marners tenure with the Leafs to finally walk because he like Matthews and willy just could never get it done. Do you honestly believe if Marner flounders with the knights for the next 3 years in a row they wont dump him as fast as they can ? Revisionist history is the tool of the uninformed and desperate.

Good luck not much out there in free agency to become a cup contender overnight and a team that fell off a cliff last year it's gonna take something really special to get there.

I love how people pretend the Leafs roster played to it's potential last year and they need to improve it drastically.

They need a better coaching system, better health luck, and a few smart adds. They have 2/3 already. Let's see whatelse Chundin can add to the team in the next month

Well, it's likely the Leafs will be doing most of their retooling via trade rather than free agency. They've already gotten two defencemen this way this week alone

Cmon-I could pull out dozens and dozens of posts by devils fans saying move him, his play and cost are killing us.

Nemec is current devils fan fodder hoping for a great return by a foolish trading team.

You could find dozens and dozens of posts of posters wanting to trade Jack Hughes if you really wanted

I’m telling you the general consensus, especially considering Hamilton was their best defenseman after the whole NTC/benching saga from their former idiot GM

He's 30, but yeah.

People are saying it's his first season of putting 70 points up in 73 games. Well, clearly, forwards with those numbers get more than 8.5M.

A consistent near PPG defenceman probably makes closer to 12M+ on this cap instead of 8.5M.

To be fair, the Leafs aren’t signing him for 70+ points. They’re hoping for 50 for sure, and a trigger man
