  • Congrats to our latest Sportsbook winners - GOLD MEDAL kihei, SILVER MEDAL fish7 and BRONZE MEDAL Sammy Kat - new tournament begins today 6/15
What are the chances that Raddysh is as good at 36 as Carlson is right now?

What are the chances the significance of an 8.5M cap hit in 8 years is going to be the same as it is right now?

In 8 years it might be the equivalent of 4-5M right now.

Wow. Ok, my thing is- they gotta keep adding to D. I suspect in 2-3 years this will already look bad if they don’t insulate Raddysh a bit, or at least make it so he isn’t expected to be, like, a #1 dman. Huge gamble to think he could step to that level, I suspect he won’t. But you’ve committed, so fill out a d corp around him.

Like others are saying, he was best utilized in TB and Toronto seems a much worse situation, but the skills are still there. He’s got a great shot, you need to create chances for him to shoot- not a massively complicated issue, at least.

He had a statistical blip year. You don’t give term and dollars based on that, you pick one and have the player prove their worth. There was zero shock in how it went. Even if not injured, the likelihood of replicating the blip was smaller than the likelihood of not.
Hes still would have produced and likely would not have had to have been dumped. Also this year may have been an outlier regarding stats for Raddysh but his previous years were solid. This was also the first year he took the reigns as the main point shot on pp1. So what Ive gathered is you only like context if it supports your position lol.

Admittedly, I forgot about those two, and I do really like Koblar. Still, though, I see Danford and Koblar as long-term projects. There's not much immediate help outside of Cowan/McKenna/Villeneuve.
Holinka is the top prospect, and they have a very young Nansi who started to come into his own last season (was one of the youngest players in his draft) who is trending upwards as well

He's very much carried by Moser on the d side of things though so the Leafs kind of need an elite shutdown guy.

Also keep in mind Tampa usually has four good players on the ice with Raddysh. Leafs don't have comparable depth on D.

The Leafs have good forwards too. That's not their problem.

We don't know what the defense will look like next season. The draft hasn't even happened and they've already added Raddysh and Andrae. I expect more additions (and subtractions) will be coming.

Odd story I met his aunt or something up in Northern BC at a friendsgiving and she said he's looking to go home.. I didn't believe her and here we are.

This year was an anomaly but he's been on the up and up the prior few seasons and will be a key cog in the Leafs PP that wasn't very good this year, so wouldn't be shocked if he gets 50 to 60 points the next few seasons. 8 million is not much with the rising cap he took a discount for the Leafs.

They all have mostly played RD at the NHL level. McCabe also cratered in metrics last year suggesting he's about to steeply decline.
McCabe played LD and has almost exclusively since being a Leaf except the early part of his first year with us. A bad year on a team that floundered does not suggest a rapid decline, it's suggests your wishful thinking.

Probably a gamble the Leafs have to take at this point with their lack of puck moving & PP defense... But man I don't know about that term. One outlier year for Raddysh getting fed by the league's best playmaker and Hart winner and then looking average at best in the playoffs when the games got tighter. Not too sure about it, although I am a hater so could be blinded a bit :D
Great for him though, what a story!

Even at 50 to 60 points with solid two way play justifies this contract. The cap is going up even more next year and you'll soon find there isnt enough high end talent in the NHL to spend it on. Take a lap.
This is the leafs were talking about this poor guy is gonna get 30 minus 4 and leaf fans throwing his jersey on the ice I've seen this script before.

I enjoy how this subject is on the first page of every big contract signing that seems high, especially of Defenseman, but it seemed to be forgotten/casually ignored until now.

I still don't really like it because it's not the direction I was hoping we were going (I feel like this year is our best chance to sell off for a true, quality, rebuild).
