Most people were assuming a 1st + before the trade was finalized.

Now that it's 2 2nds and a 3rd for Giordano with retention + Blackwell, the Leafs are stupid?

Can't win on the main boards
The value is fine, but like the boosh trade, it doesn't move the needle. That's the issue. Could have used those assets towards something better.

But it is funny to watch some posters get salty when Dubas does good things. Hahaha

I just laugh at them all. The Leafs CLEARLY did very well on this trade. Many 1st round picks become NHLers, but the percentage drops a lot by the 2nd round, and it's way down for the 3rd round. So yes, they sent away some futures, but the odds of these picks becoming NHLers is very low. And we shored up the blueline with a very good defensive guy and added a pest. WIN.

Stop being so effing logical.

The second he gave to Arizona to take Ritchie was 2025. He will be at his kids soccer game in 3 years as thousands off Leafs fans wonder where their second round pick went

More likely Ritchie in NHL or Dubas GM of Leafs

Great trade I think, unless Gio suffers a catastrophic injury.

I don’t think the leafs are done though. They have too many Mod/Bottom 6 Forwards and with the waive of Mrazek I can’t imagine they’re gonna run with Campbell and Woll/Kallgren for the rest of the season.

Once Mrazek and Clifford clear waivers tomorrow the leafs will have about $4 million in cap space.

I say they trade Holl because he doesn’t really fit on the blue line anymore (I much prefer Lilj) and I think they’re gonna get a goalie. Who? I have no idea.

But up to now, even if it makes you a bit more than a hair salty, he’s right.

Using the word salty is incredibly cringe worthy in fairness. Also, no, one strong season does not magically turn a late second round pick into a top 15 pick, or even a first round pick. That is simply homer optimism as fans attach themselves to their team's prospect. Off topic regardless.

I mean it wasn't just to take ritchie, they got a defenseman who's been playing with Rielly as well

like what???? apparently you only need 1 side to make a deal lol
I don't have all the GM's phones tapped, but I'm guessing that Dermott and 3-2nds could get you something other than a little depth. Change one of the 2nd's to a 1st, and you have Lindholm value. At least he moves the needle some.

It literally doesn't matter what trades the Leafs made, the same group of you would be in here with "doesn't matter, first round exit" ready to spam.

hahahahaha change out a 1st and you get lindholm... just a first? more like Bostons 1st is 17-20 range plus they had to give up 2 2nds and Urho Vaakanainen and John Moore

Find any post of mine even remotely similar. Anything can happen in the playoffs, but you're also ignoring these people are going off past history. It's the same as a Buffalo fan saying, next year is definitely our year

Cringe is usually the person splitting straws no? That’s you here by a country mile. I’m not attached to a play I’ve never seen play, but let’s call a spade a spade. You don’t want to admit the leafs appear to have made a nice pick in the second round. Sucks.

The assets in the Ritchie deal + this one? Or are you just saying neither is a significant add?

What hurts from this trade isn't the assets given up but rather it's the potential cap space lost.

Boston, Tampa, and Florida each made more impactful trades to improve themselves, Toronto is still lagging behind.

Another first round exit coming up.
