The arms race in the Atlantic is ridiclous

Tampa gets Hagel

Florida gets Giroux, Chairot, Haag

Boston gets Lindholm

Toronto gets Giordano and Blackwell
The hockey gods being the capricious bastards they are will have a Western Conference team win it all this year.

I'd rather two 2nds + 3rd in a vacuum over one 1st. The retention was a given no matter where the destination was, I think that factored into the ask for a 1st.

But that's the point. It wasn't just two 2nds and a 3rd for Giordano, they also threw in a useful player in Blackwell. Plus they retained 50%. Both of those should have value, so it seems like Francis instead took the kind of value if neither Blackwell nor retention was included.

I like this trade because it cost Toronto a lot of picks without moving the needle for them at all, further exposed Ron Francis as an absolutely clueless GM, and well, more evidence that Dorion is so bad. It's a win-win-win!
So Toronto paid too much and at the same time Seattle didn’t get enough….

Interesting take

I can live with this. We keep our first, nobody named Knies, Neimela or Liljegren going anywhere. Dubas is getting better at this.

Toronto won this imo. Picks are nice and hopefully those seconds or 3rd can be good. Blackwell is pretty good you will be surprised. Gio obviously still very good and you payed way less for a better d man than other teams. Also it’s retained.. Good luck to the leafs I hope he can push you guys past the first round. Let Ron and the scouting team make some more magic with future drafts

so what is the involvement of sens and canucks? if not then update the title. It’s misinformation

That’s why I’m seriously wondering why Vancouver and Ottawa just didn’t hang up the phone on Toronto. You’re messing my Sunday up with this nonsense

Toronto did well.. all they need to do is win a round in the playoffs and this pays off.
