If it pushes Holl down the lineup I think I'd have to like it if I were a Leafs fan. Gio is a great dman, didn't win that Norris by accident. Gio-Brodie was one of the best pairings in the league for years. Blackwell is a nice add too, not sure why Seattle was willing to trade him.

Ture, though he is only three years from winning it and is now reunited with his partner from that time.
He fell off a steep cliff at 35 years old. It was not from being separated from his partner. He was still with his partner at that point.

Toronto fans: No way we trade Knies (recently drafted in the 2nd round).

Same Toronto fans: we only gave up two 2nd rounders? What a steal!
You realize players often improve from their draft position, right? The Leafs also drafted Dermott in the 2nd round and he was traded for a 3rd round today. Knies' stock has increased since last summer.

2 seconds and a third

I mean he might as well sell the future because he's gone this year anyways if he fails

Hmm

So
Tor: 2x 2nd and Dermott for Gio & Blackwell
Van: Hamonic for Dermott
Ott: 3rd for Dermott
Sea: Gio & Blackwell for 2x 2nd

Basically if Francis demands the package Toronto actually paid, he would have an extra third by flipping Dermot to Ottawa.? Doesnt that sound like Francis missed a third here?

Nice try. But Knies is a more known commodity now and is trending extremely well.

You could flip that around and talk about how it could also be a Travis Dermott who was a second round pick as well. Or any other second round pick that doesn’t turn into anything. Leafs are high on Knies and he’s been terrific this season.

Toronto got a 38 year former star D that wants to try and win a cup and decent 4th liner and they held onto their 1st rounder....can't be that upset

It looks like Dubas did not get fleeced so huge win for the Leafs.... Adding Gio with that goaltending on another hand is a bandaid at best.

Golly gee...that is an optimistic take Mr Rogers. Gio may be good offensively (Reilly?) but what does he add defensively where the Laffs have mega problems!
