Wish we paid the premium for Chychuran + Crouse

Instead going after a comparable player to Muzzin who when he comes back provided what Giordano does

We need a smooth skating D-men entering his prime who could support Rielly with offensive abilities

Wish we went after Chychuran but I guess not. Hopefully Giordano If he played with Brodie can rekindle that chemistry from the mid 2010s that they had

Jan Rutta plays 1st pair, that's not a great argument

I think you just summed up the counter-arguement.

If healthy, the Leafs will now have Rielly, Muzzin, and Giordano on the left side. Yes, Hedman/McDonagh/Sergachev is probably better; but Brodie is better than Cernak.

Is Muzzin out for the season? Seems like an odd addition considering that with Muzzin the Leafs now have Rielly, Muzzin, Giordano and Sandin on the left side, while employing guys like Holl and Lyubushkin on the right side. Not that those guys are "bad", but both are probably better suited as #5/6 guys and the right side is the one that needed upgrading.
They expect Muzz back, but not sure there's much faith in his health currently being on LTIR and having missed the end of the past 2 playoffs

Toronto didn't have the pieces for Chych.

Brodie Liljegren Lyubushkin and holl are decent depth on the right side. I'm sure depending on how the play all the rhd except for brodie will be rotated in and out depending on their play.

They're taking it slow with Muzzin and even when he's been healthy he's struggled a lot. This can potentially give us a solid pair that's known to work (Gio - Brodie)

He's not wrong. Toronto has had good drafting. Pro scouts are a different story.

I'd argue it's the other way around tbh.
