Berube was already asked, and he says he likes Laughton as a center. Domi has really struggled at center, so it will be Laughton at C, with Domi moving back to the wing.

This implies that the players have value, though. If they're net negatives with their contracts, then them having term is not a positive, but a negative. Especially important with Marner signing coming up, too.

Keep in mind it's a 2027 1st, and he was a 2nd priority. The first priority was top 4 rd, which ended up being Carlo. It's clear they were saving cap room for Carlo. Laughton was what we could afford for 1.5 m left in cap savings. I don't mind it with that in mind. Filling 2nd pair RD was more important. We're also getting picks back as well.

Is it worth it to blow so many assets to save a couple of million in cap space for a 2 year contract? They did it with McCabe and now both these deadline trades. Should have just traded one of their high cap players and would be in much better shape. Worst part is that they would have gotten a haul for Marner or Nylander 2 years ago or even this year. Being so loyal to players of a team that has done nothing in the playoffs is so backwards.

Who is Grebenkin? What is his projection as a prospect? (Normal people projection, not Toronto homer projection)

I find Toronto's trade deadline annoying, because I think they added good pieces for playoff hockey. I can't really comment on whether what they paid for the acquisitions makes sense, but I think they went down the right direction.

I agree. But at only $1.5M, he is a positive value for the Leafs on either the 3rd or 4th lines, for the next 2 seasons, C or W.
Especially if he is getting PK time. He had led the Flyers in PK time for forwards each of the last 4 seasons, and has scored at a good clip during that time. His f/o draws are below average against the best the league has to offer on their own PPs, but reasonable. He should slot into the top 4 forwards pretty easily, with no detrimental impact to shift planning. Whomever should take a rest.

He is not a 3C. He is a fringe 4th liner.
