Nikita Scherbak ($863,333)
David Descharnais ($3,500,000)
Alexei Emelin ($4,100,000)
Noah Juulsen ($894,167)
1st 2017
2nd 2018

Salary Total: $9.35m
:leafs

Tyler Bozak ($4,200,000)
JVR ($4,250,000)
Matt Hunwick ($1,200,000) or Jhonas Enroth (replace montoya ;) )
Salary Total: $9,65m

Summary:

I think this package like this.

JVR = Scherbak, Juulsen & 1st + cap dump
Bozak & Hunwick = Cap Dump & 2nd 2018

Why would TML do this ?

Continue the rebuild and get IMO good prices on both players who are not considered buildin blocks in the future. Might have to ask a lil more from mtl but still i would like it. Only real problem in it is 49/50 contracts atm ´but we could throw in a ahl'er. 1st isnt gonna be to high, but first is a first and I might be in a minority here, but i think we (tml) are far away from ready with the painful part of the rebuild.
This would make us weaker no doubt but would give us much needed tools in the future with Juulsen and Scherbak and a first and a second. Of course I wouldnt take Eme or DD but its a must take situation to get other parts.

Why would MTL do this:

Cuz they are in a "win now" mode. They would get a nice upgrade to their scorin with jvr for 2yrs and a very good c to their second or third line with a marvellous faceoff skills. Both are worth the salaries easily and JVR is a very good contract. Hunwick to balance the salaries. I think with those names ya would have better chance to fight for the cup.

**If I'm way outta the line with values I apologize**
And NOOOOW ITS TIIIIIMMMMMEEEEE TO Bash this to the ground

I see it as two trades.

Bozak + Hunwick
for
Desharnais + Emelin + 2nd rounder

and

JVR
for
(Scherbak) + (Juulsen) + 1st rounder

Do I hate either? No. Am I a big fan of either? No. If Lou pulled the trigger on this I wouldn't be angry. I trust our scouts... if they like both the prospects a lot then this trade kind of makes sense. I'm personally not a big fan of either but I'm no scout.

Montreal's not gonna include a prospect like Scherbak just to "upgrade" Desharnais and Emelin to Bozak and Hunwick. Let alone add in a 2nd rounder. I think most Leafs fans would jump at the opportunity to rip off the Habs but Bergevin wouldn't agree to it.

There is absolutely no reason for Toronto to do this. Jvr and bozak allow everyone else on the leafs to currently to slot into appropriate roles and because of that our young players have been great and developing nicely. Nice prospects from Montreal but they are less important to Toronto then this year's development of their own top rookies.

We need some veteran players for the playoffs this year.

We very well could be meeting MTL in the first round, should we make it.

The time to deal JVR and Bozak will be this summer.

Don't want any of the Hab garbage. Toronto is interested in a championship in June, not October

Without any biased hatred, I don't see Juulsen or Scherbak being any good in the NHL. Since draft they've both been underwhelming.

Montreal fans will disagree, but only see a bottom pairing D man and bottom 6 winger.

The 1st looks pretty, but it has a good chance of being 22-30th.

No deal for the leafs.

If Montreal wants to talk about a 2nd+ for Bozak.....that's workable.

Unless Price or Galchenyuk are in Montreal proposals they're all considered garbage. Apparently Emelin is good enough to patrol the first place team in the league but not the Toronto Maple Leafs.

OP... you clearly thought about your proposal. Good effort. Don't let the Leafs posters make you feel stupid like it's a ridiculous proposal. It isn't. Value wise it's pretty fair.

Montreal's answer is no ****ing way. we're not accelerating toronto rebuild. it's the LAST team we'd want to give juulsen, scherbak and a 1st to. so no

yeah juulsen looks awful this year and Scherbak has finally figured it out with 6 goals in 12 games. Scherbak may be a 'bust' in your eyes, but i'll take martin lapointe's opinion (he was spot on with gallagher, lehkonen and sergachev) when he says juulsen is going to be a top 4 NHL dman.

unlike you, he's director of player development and doesn't publicly talk out of his ass unless he really believes in a player

I don't see either team going for it. Montreal does NOT need to move as many pieces (picks/top prospects) right now. Scherbak had a terrible camp but a very good start in the A. If he continues, he might get a call-up somewhere this year. I don't see Mtl moving Juulsen as well. I seen him live a few times - pre-season - and he's good. Not flashy but he does the right thing! Martin Lapointe also said a month ago that Juuslen WILL play in the NHL soon. He's going to be a very good #3 (at best) or an average top 4 defenseman in this league.

I also don't think Bergevin has any interest in trading Emelin right now. The only issue I have with him right now is how much he's paid. Had he had a cap hit of 2.8-3M, teams would be all over him.

The only player that I have interest in is JVR and unless Toronto is willing to take a 1st, a cap dump and a mid level prospect I don't see Bergevin going for it and truthfully, If I'm Toronto, I keep JVR (and re-sign him when his contracts is up) unless I get a very good young D with top pair potential.
