Idk why people are acting like this is some 200 IQ signing by Dubas. Guy scored 10 in 21 games last season and wanted to bail on his team and join his hometown team. But yet he gets no shit for it and Dubas is treated like a god for replacing Hyman at cheap. Meanwhile you can’t even bring Fox up without people screaming about how he became a Ranger. This was an easy signing for Dubas. The guy that traded Marchment for Malgin and let Verhaeghe and Rodrigues walk for nothing

Wtf is this? Jesus.

Verhaeghe was Lou not Dubas and nobody is going to shit on the Leafs for that because NYI, and Tampa dumped him to.

Dubas gets a on Marchment because most of his moves are good, there are some bad ones some REALLY bad ones.

But for every Marchment trade or Kadri trade there is

Trading for then signing Hynan

Trading Kessel for Kapanen and the pick that landed Andersen.

Signing Tavares
Signing Bunting
Signing Kase
Signing Kampf
Signing Brodie
Muzzin trade

Drafting Sandin at 28th

Getting actual value for Ritchie,

Trading for Campbell despite his struggles the last couple months the price turned out to be Trevor Moore and 2 3rds that's fine.

Bunting was an actual group 6 UFA thou, unlike Fox he already put in multiple years inside the Yotes farm system and its not like he forced the Yotes to trade him despite not even having a single NHL game to his name, he had the right to walk away according to the CBA.

A scrub being carried by two elite players?
Troll attempt denied. Burr is in the ring of honour for a reason.

A high motor high IQ player that on his own probably wouldn’t really bring much to any given line, but when paired with the right offensive players, he makes them a hell of a lot better. I’ve never seen Matthews and Marner grind as much as they have this season, and that’s all because of the example Bunting has set. He’s also smart enough and fast enough to see the plays that your superstars are making as they happen.

Why would you even compare Fox to Bunting

Fox was a 20 year old with his rights still technically to the Flames, Bunting was what 25 or 26 and just breaking into the NHL after being held back for how long? Pretty sure he was a UFA aswell.

Not sure what you meant but Bunting has been a brilliant signing by Toronto and he has fit in perfectly with that line. He is definitely not a scrub but more of a passenger and that is 100% acceptable when he is playing with guys like Matthews and Marner.

I think your really grasping for straws here.

the kampt and Kane signings are nothing special. Taveras at 11 mil is a train wreck, muzzin trade has turned out to be horrible (leafs gave up durzi and a 1st that turned out to be bjornfort). Brodie is decent but at 5 mil you expect him to be atleast good. Getting value for Ritchie? Please. He traded a 2nd for basically a bottom pairing d man. Colorado traded 2 2nds for toews, sakic is playing chess while dubie is learning checkers.

The signing wasn't really a surprise, but good on Dubas for getting that extra year. Bunting must be kicking himself for that one, but that's the way it goes.

I doubt he is heart broken about getting to ride with Marner and Matthews for 2 years. The extra year will likely get him more money on the backend then if he was trying to get paid just off this season. It is all him gambling on himself while getting to play at home.

I imagine he will sign an extension this off season.

For sure, but can't really argue that there was money left on the table for the 2nd year. But true, he may not replicate those numbers if he isn't in his current position.

Add drafting Matthew Knies, Topi Niemla, Nick Robertson, Nick Abruzze, Roni Hirvonen. All picks in the 2nd-4th rounds.

Signing Taveras wasn’t that great. I still feel like his money could have been spent elsewhere. He was a luxury not a need.
