Seems like a good day to try and get Murray through waivers here. Swayman signed, and Boston now putting both Patera and Bussi on as a result.

Include Phoenix Copley as well. .. seems like there's a lot of options today if a team needs a goalie.

Would Patera go back to the Canucks if not picked up?
Was only with Boston for a few days?

Rifai looked good, maybe not quite good enough to make the team or get claimed, but stood out in a positive way.

I believe the way it works is that Vancouver can issue "a claim". If they are the only ones that claim him, then he is determined to have cleared waivers and can be assigned to their AHL team.

If they weren't, but had the highest "priority", then he'd be back on their NHL roster, to potentially be waived again.

1 Million for a 6'5 30 year with 2 cups and finally healthy? Seems like a good risk to take for a backup. Buffalo wanted him a couple years ago.

The last time he was good, Ben Bishop came 2nd in Vezina voting. I'm not even sure why Toronto re-signed him. The guy is cooked to a crisp.

I don't think (m)any teams are going to view him as an ideal backup at this stage in his career.

The question is -- does a young team, perhaps with a bit of roster flexibility, view him as "worth" a spot on their 23 man roster as a 3rd goalie? or have a young backup that they can stash in the AHL similar to what SJ did with Askarov.
