Aren’t the leafs now projected to be 13 million over? They just nuked themselves
Pretty sure it has been explained roughly 4,799,344 times over the last 3-4 months that we are fine cap wise

Even with your optimize you seem unsure. Little scary isn't it!
Yes, Montreal was so far behind the leafs; that if the leafs, didn't get a point in the game before the last game of the season, a Montreal win would have eliminated them. Without getting that point before the last game, Montreal might have actually iced a team other than their AHL roster.Barely made the playoffs? Riiiiight. This team essentially had their playoff spot and 1st round matchup with Boston locked up months before the end of the season. They were just coasting at the end of the year because they had nothing to play for. They weren't catching TB and MTL wasn't catching them. No they don't have a massively improved team from last year, but they don't need to be. This team on paper is one of the best in the entire league which is why they're #2 in the Vegas odds to win the cup right now.
You're also completely disregarding their biggest source of improvement: the development of our young early 20's aged core. Not to mention for some reason you're assuming guys like Mikheyev or Moore are contributing "next to nothing" just because they don't make a lot of money? This roster doesn't just have star power; it's got two 40+ point players lined up to play on their 3rd line right now. That's some pretty decent depth. You're so far off on your analysis here.
And have a really high 2nd round pick next year. Who needs 3rd, 4th dman anyway, three or four guys from the refuse bin will do...Yep. Terrified. Have the core players locked up for 3-6 years. Have 11-14 million to spend on 2 d next year.

You know if 100 people are saying that there's going to be a cap issue and 20 people are saying no there isn't... don't you think that the 100 people might be right and the 20 people wrong? Particularly when those 20 people are all Leaf fans and its they're only hope for the future that they are right and the 100 are wrong?Pretty sure it has been explained roughly 4,799,344 times over the last 3-4 months that we are fine cap wise

I will bet; that, the backup goaltender will be no worse than the starting goaltender. Both will be as bad as the team in front of them, and not good enough to get them into the playoffs.
Or 5th, 6th or 7th Dman. Who needs any other players, when the leafs have Marner and Nylander who never get injured...Ya like what 61st maybe? At least 55th

Not only miss the playoffs but keep their frist round pick...You think the Leafs will miss the playoffs?

This is just an insane statement, especially when we are talking about rival fans on a message board, most of them horribly misinformed. When the majority says something is true... its usually true.
How does that work? Was there a stipulation on the Marleau trade?
this is the worst take I've ever seen on this site. Not only miss the playoffs but keep their frist round pick...
yup. top 10 protected. this guy is predicting a team with a core of Matthews,Tavares,Marner, Nylander, Rielly,Barrie,Muzzin and Andersen is gonna be a BOTTOM 10 team lol.
Sorry no, The only thing we agree on is that Marner and Nylander don't get hurt. Hard to get hurt when you are button hooking or throwing the puck away before anyone cames within ten feet of you.So we agree! Good.

The Habs were so close, practically as good as the Leafs last year, according to Habs fans. Yeah, they've actually convinced themselves of this. I mean let's just ignore how the Leafs were on cruise control the last month plus last season.this is the worst string of bad takes ive ever seen.
leafs had a playoff spot all but assured in march. they are 100% making the playoffs this year, the habs need a miracle.
try harder

It was a long, emotional process, but it feels amazing to have the best young core in hockey locked up.
This will probably be the best Leaf team many of us will have ever seen, and I couldn't be more excited!
Yet, Leafs management (sure Carolina didn't ask for it) put that stipulation in. Guess their stupidity must be up with mine...Oh my god. That was so stupid I didn’t even understand the depths of the stupidity
